Hi all,
I recently purchased GRAW. My system is fairly high end:
AMD 4800+ x2
BFG 7800GT
2 gig memory
Asus SLI delux Mobo
I've been reading the forums and working on tweaks. The "true" on memory mangement smoothed the game, but I'm living in the 15fps range a lot. I will bump up as high as 40fps but only for a second or two.
I've tried turning all the graphics to the lowest level and I still am hanging in the mid teens most of the time (with 800x600 @60hz)
I'm seeing a lot of traffic about 30 - 40 FPS average framerates. The only thing I have not done is update my video drivers. I'm two iterations back and will fix that tonight.
These framerates look very low for my system. Are there dual core issues with this game (I tried setting the affinity for one cpu and did not seem to help). I must be doing something wrong here. The fact that reducing the video settings to all low or off and having almost no impact seems that there might be an issue.
Anyone with a high end dual core processor seeing better framerates. Any suggestions. I can't imaging you would purposely design a game that would only run around 15 to 18 FPS on fairly fast current gear.
Any help would be great.

Actually if you go to www.ghostrecon.net (http://www.ghostrecon.net) you will find a few posts like yours, and some answers hopefully.
Thats sick becase on my little low end system I do between 20-25fps 1024x768 res. and most stuff on medium(which makes it kind of hard to play)
My system:
AMD AthlonXP 2800 (333mhz fsb)(about to be upgraded in 2 weeks to 3200 Barton 2.2mhz(400mhz fsb)
2 gig OCZ Platinum ram Dual Channel
ATI 9800Pro VGA 128ram(thats the sore spot)
About to upgrade next week to Sapprire X800GTO
So thats about the best with my budget.
Hope all works for you.

It's not your system. It's the poorly optimized game engine that runs GRAW. You compare GRAW graphics with other games like Prey and F.E.A.R. and you think to yourself like huh? Could this be? Then seeing that the graphics of those two games which run flawlessly and are more advanced than GRAW's, you come up with the conclusion that it's the game's engine itself.

I would say it's a bit of both... GRAW 1.16 has a slight better performance than 1.10... we all know that this game is a resource hog... if you really want improved performance drop some money on a 7950GX2 (16x PCIe), even with a mid-system this card will blow you away...
Well just to be fair, the Monolith engine has been in use for quite some time... Like what I discussed a long time ago the Diesel/Diesal engine has very strong potential... Just like the original RSE engine... but it took some time for it to evolve. Right now it's difficult to compare mature 3D engines that had more mainstream use.
I run at 1600 x 1200 with a 7950GX2 (full-out graphic settings) I can't complain.

Have you tried the Xtreme G Drivers? I got a 20fps increase. Now i'm pulling 45-50 fps on my 6800ultra. http://www.tweaksrus.com/index.php?option=com_docman&ta...ls&gid=670&Itemid=41 (http://www.tweaksrus.com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_details&gid=670&Itemid=41)

Hey SeMPeRFi, do you know what are the differences between this (XG Forceware Select 91.31 English) version of 91.31 vs the beta 91.31 on nVIDIA site... or are they one of the same? It mentions GOZ's tweaks on 91.28 + nVIDIA's 91.31 = XG Forceware Select 91.31 English. Do you know what the actual tweaks were?
I'm surprised they kept the same revision number...

No these drivers are not the same ones you can get from the Nvidia site. If you look around on www.tweaksrus.com (http://www.tweaksrus.com) you can read about the tweaks they do to the drivers. I'm not sure exactly what goes in but I did see a performance increase over the standard beta drivers.

Thanks for the comments all. I'm always a little slow in updating drivers. I've seen them cause as much trouble as help in the past.
This time, however, it made the difference. I upgraded to the 84.21 drivers (latest non beta) and my framerates soared. I'm getting 40-50 fps now and I've turned up the resolution and detail.
Update your video drivers, it makes a big difference in this game. It is like a whole new experience for me. Smooth and looks good.

Is it the vid card option? (GForce?)
Thanks
