My S-35 career ended adrift in the Indian Ocean last night when I ran out of fuel. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif Interesting that I only used ahead standard for cruising to asigned areas, wasted as little time as possible to achieve the goals, even heading back towards Freemantle on the one deploy to the South China Sea goal. I only did what was asked of me so I must assume I was expendable. You would think Freemantle would send a tug or something to give a tow, but nooo. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif
Anyway, I began trying several ways to stretch my fuel and found that 1/3 is the worst, 2/3 and flank are about the same, and standard and full ARE the same, and the best. I even tried to stretch the distance by alternating between battery and fuel. Closest I came was 1200 NM out to sea.

Switch to the knotmeter view and set it for 11 knots for best fuel economy.

Sboat best fuel economy 5knots, only use batteries to evade aircraft, attack mode, and every few hours to check sonar. Have never run out of fuel.

Only charge when you need to.

Thanks much to dgrayson, I've been exploring all these .cfg files like contacts.cfg, airstrike.cfg, and more recently the submarine .cfg files, after taking note of your observations about fuel economy I went in and edited the values for ahead slow and ahead 1/3 (actually 2/3 in 1.4) to .35 vs .40 and .50 instead of .57 for the Gato class and now I can use the rotary wheel and when I press P at dawn in compressed time I get 3 kts submerged at ahead 1/3rd (lasting be about 14 hours instead of 10!) and change it up to S and ahead 2/3rds for a perfect 10.5 kts running on the surface, cheating a little yeah, but it works sooo well! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif thanks again, you and Duci truely are mod gurus.
