When opening a new file in Photoshop there is a window that sets the resolution in pixels per inch/cm.

The default seems to be 72.

My question is what does the typical FB skinner set it at?

Leave it alone. It's a setting you only want to mess with if you plan to print something.

For skins, were working with the screen resolution - that is 72 ppi.

For printing photo quality images you'll need atleast 180/200 - 300 ppi.

So yes, dont make any changes if you want to make a skin. Leave it at 72 ppi res.
