Hey, I'm new to these forums so be gentle http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

I bought the original SC bout a week ago and i love it and im gonna invest in the other two.

I was looking into the two games and downloaded the movies for the games.

On the co-op missions, as in online, the guys playing were talking to one another. Is that possible to do on the PC or was it just done for the sake of the online movie or is it just on the likes of the xbox?

My thanks in advance,
Scowerdee

Talking is also possible in PT's Multi Player and it's possible on Xbox and PC. I am not sure about PS2.
If you are only up for MP, dont buy PT, because almost everyone has switched to CT. If you like SP, also play PT.

I heard that PT was pretty bad and only like a filler between the original n CT.

So I should play multiplayer for CT rather than PT then?

Will any microphone do or should i get a specific one?

One more thing, can anyone recommend a gd graphics card to me coz im stuck on 64mb at the mo n im gonna b upgradin to a SAPPHIRE 9550 256MB DDR GRAPHICS CARD, is that one any good?

Full specs at http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?SAP-955025

Thanks again

Yes if you are going for multiplayer, play Chaos Theory. Most of the PT maps have/will have been brought over to CT anyways.

Any basic mic should work just fine.

A basic mic will work but use headphones. People really hate hearing their own voice echo back because someone uses their speakers instead of a headphones.

PT's singleplayer had some awesome levels, so I'd definitely recommend buying it for the singleplayer experience and to hear the story before playing CT.

The Pandora multiplayer was great, but many of those players have left to play CT's multiplayer, which has some new features but is largely the same (yet still groundbreaking and easily one of the most exciting multiplayer experiences ever). You won't miss anything by skipping the multiplayer portion of PT and going straight to CT.

Note that you'll definitely want to upgrade your vid card for CT's singleplayer and coop, it will be worth it.

basicly your better of with an Nvidia than with an Ati for this specific game, highly praised is the Geforce 6600GT, google it and you may find some good price for it (should be around 170â"š¬/200$)

I have an Nvidia Geforce at the mo, its 64mb and i borrowed PT from my friend (who looks like the muppet goat from "Muppet Treasure Island") and it says my graphics card isnt suitble for the shadows or something so i was trying to get away from the nvidia's or is that wrong?

Thanks

nah, you don't need to, that might be because your GFX card is a Geforce 1-2 or one of the MX-series cards, those cards don't support Pixelshaders, which are needed to run pt and Ct.

Now there are basicly 3 pixelshader versions (5 for real...) its Pixelshader 1.1, (Pixelshader 1.4), Pixelshader 2.0 (b used by the newer ati cards (x-series))and finally the Pixelshader 3.0, the newest one, only used by Nvidia Geforce 6xxx GFX cards.

Now this game support either ps 1.1 or ps 3.0. Even though ps 2.0 is the most popular till now, new Nvidia cards handle that also pretty good, so no problem on other games.
The only problem is that, by buying an Ati, you won't get as nice visuals as with a Nvidia Gf 6 series. Like: Lights reflected on the streets are blocky, shadows are a bit blockier and so on. With Nvidia you get Sm 3.0 so you get nicely unblocky reflected lights, and less blocky and faster shadows thx to the Hardware Shadow Mapping only Nvidia supports (the way it is done in this game).

Now i for my own, am owning an Ati Radeon 9800xt and am overall happy with performance and looks, just sometimes those blocky Pixelshaders are really ugly and the performance also sometimes is really bad. If you have the cash, go for the Nvidia Geforce 6600GT (if you have even more cash go for the Geforce 6800GT) and if you don't have enough money go for the Ati Radeon 9550 you suggested...

Mind you that you have to watch out what Connections your motherboard supports for GFX-Cards. Newer cards can have the so called PCI-E connection, which only newer Motherboards support... (is theoretically faster than the older AGP, but pratically it is not really yet...) I guess you have an Agp Motherboard, so look out you actually buy an AGP Gfx-card http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I hope I could help, and btw. welcome to the forums http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

It's likey that the Geforce card you have is an "MX" These cards were made as a discount card and did not include the pixel shader with them. As such they do not work. But I have a Geforce card and I am thrilled with it on all the game I own.

I wouls also recomend getting Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow (SC:PT). It can be found for as little as 20$ anymore and the single player experience is worth it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

One more thing, If you start playing Multiplayer don't get discoraged. This part of the game puts you against human players not computer AI. So I think that makes this harder than SP. There are a lot of things to lean about this part of the game. But its well worth it I think. You will find great players that will help you like I did and also you'll find some jerks. If your on My name in game is the same. Hope to see you there. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif (this part of the game I realy like) Have fun.
