Hi all that grace these pages, made my first movie last night aftr being so inspired by all the guys that make them here. It was very basic made with just fraps and WMM depicting a lone 190 attacking a lone C47. But it was ok i thought, nice angles and effects. The only really bad thing about it was the way i moved the camera in some shots with the mouse. How should i be moving the camera around the plane smoothly?(that is via F2 view). Im sure you guys all started somewhere, so please help. I hope to be up with the best one day so tips of any kind are welcome not just on camera movement. I appreciate any1 taking the time to help. Im on HL as 334th_Zippo1 if u wanna help me out there. Thanks.

Hey Danjama

I have had that issue as well, It is really hard to capture camara movement without all the jitters and stutters. If you have a camara, there is a software called Cam2Pan that will change your headmovements to mouse movements in the game(kinda like track ir). It can pan smoother but it may take a few takes to get it right, because it is not the best software in the world. But if you tweek it you may get it to work well. Some movie making softwares allow you to make pan motions in the recorded video and that is how some of the pans are done. Some movies take these guys months and hours of recording to get it right, so I can appreciate all the hard work that goes into it. I myself recorded and dumped over 50 gigs of video for only 6:08 of used footage.
Good luck.

Thanks for replyin, i have cam2pan but i never get smooth inputs with it,i think my camera is too poor quality. I donr use it in game nowm use newview instead which is the best. I gues ill just practice and experiment until i get it right. Thanks again. Can anyone explain to me how to use external cameras that you place in FMB?

Cntrl f2 should cylcle you through all the placed cameras in the server if there are any.
you cannot track planes with them only pan to see them flying around.

Danjama, there are many ways to get a good pan. Some even use the mouse or TIR, though I try to avoid it.

For a quick and simple pan, get a mouse emulator that lets you use the numpad to emulate the mouse and generate a very smooth pan, though basic:

I have a mouse on my flight stick i suppose adjusting mouse sensitivity would help for the rate of pan you want.

hmmmmm gonna have to give it a try

Thanks again

actually you can track moving vehicles or planes with any static camera... using F6/7 and shift too depending if you want enemy or friendly... when the camera is locked on you can zoom in/out...automatically chooses the closest object but by further clicking will go to the next closest..... then next etc
