Silent hunter 2 Problems

I picked up Silent hunter 2 from my eb today to give it another shot. BUT whenever I play it locks up my computer after a few minutes and the text, guages, interface and other things have these little (go spastic and shoot all over the screen and show weird icons) fits. I know this is obviously a graphics card issue. I have a Nvidia Gf 4 running at drive 43.45, which seems to be the best driver for running on my pc. I use windows XP and have the 1.1 patch for the game. My computer is rather modern (it can happily run HL2 with the graphics turned up)
does anyone know what the best nvidia drivers to run sh2 are because I think thats the where the problem is.

I don't have the answer you're looking for, but if you are currently using drivers that work best with your configuration, I wouldn't bother changing them. It'll probably run SH3 just fine! Flanker15....hi mate do you know that SilentHunter2 wont run on Windows XP...you got to download the patch...it may be the proplem if not then i wouldent alter my drivers for the game...hold on till we get hole of SH3...

Errrr the best drivers for your card are the omega 45.23a (http://blaze.ausgamers.com/utopiatech/odrivers-nvidia-nvidia_wxp_omega_14523a.php).
I have the same system as u, and never had probleme running SH2, u should try the compatibility mode and check the stability of ur system(fragmentation,drivers,programs,running processes,...). http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I had to revert from the 66.93 NVidea driver back to the 53.03 driver in order to get SHII to work properly. I had similar symptoms to those you describe. Of course then HL2 will not work so you need to continually uninstall/install the correct driver depending on the game you wish to play.

I had the exact same problem until i rolled back my geforce drivers,the same problem affects UT2K3 and UT2K4.

hopefully the omega drivers mentioned above will solve the problem.
