I have over 30 xbox360 games, and unfortunately the very best one, assassins creed is mearly playable due to the freezing issues. It would be really nice with a patch for this game, since it is very well designed and amusing to play.
The freezing occours more or less often depending on configuration, however it always freezes in the end. I have an elite system, with 12v fan replacement and an extra fan at the GPU-cooler. I have drilled extra holes above the fan to maximize cooling.
* It freezes more often in 1080p than in 720p, and more often in 720p than in 480p.
* It freezes more often with dolby 5.1 than with stereo sound.
* It freezes more often with sound and video over HDMI than separated video/audio via composite/spdif.
I have installed temperature probes on the CPU and GPU. The GPU/CPU temperature is usually arounf 50C/45C when it freeze.
I have had one other game which behaved exactly the same - Bully Scholarship from Rockstar. But since they patched it a few weeks ago, it has not frozen at all.
Hope to get a patch soon, this is a very good game.
