Does anybody think the assualt rifles were placed oddly in the marksman category? I think they should have made another category or modified a category to make it fit assualt rifles.

I might be wrong, but I think some marksmen in the military actually use Assault rifles with scopes to kind of "snipe" the enemy in the current urban combat that goes on.

The M14 is a great example of this concept.
in Korea/Veitnam it was a standard issue AR (Technically a Battle Rifle). It was replaced with the M16A1/2/4 over time. Now many versions of it are used, like the M21, a lengthened version and my personal favorite, the MK14 Mod 0 Enhanced Battle Rifle.

And now we have the M21:

And the Mk 14 Mod 0 EBR:

Of course though, the majority of assault rifles are not used for sniping. Assault rifles were mainly built as a way to combine accuracy with power and to make it so the solider had a more convenient way to approach different situations knowing that if he needs accuracy or power it will be one switch away. I too thought the assault rifles were a bit misplaced. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

Also the M21 is not classified as a assault rifle.
