What's the difference between Omega NVidia drivers and NVidias?

Thanx,

Omega tweaks them to obtain better results. Also includes tweaked control panel (allowing for such things as overclocking) in one download. Check out driverheaven forums to get an idea as to what people prefer. Many wait until Omega drivers are out before upgrading. As always, your mileage may vary.

Wasn't this the guy that decided not to do any more nvidia 3rd party drivers?

Anyway, if I install this driver on top of my Nvidia drivers (45.23 I think) will I be able to roll back to the official driver if I want to?

thx,

NVidia threatened the guy with legal action if he kept putting out tweaked drivers, but protests from users were so great, NVidia recanted.

Can't comment as to NVidia, but I tried the last few builds with a 9700 and a 9800 and will personally not go back.

Check out DriverHeaven Forums (http://www.driverheaven.net/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=12) for some feedback on Omega drivers.

Omega tweaks the drivers more toward visual quality and game stability. So they usually score slighyly lower on benchmarks (but who ever plays benchmarks?) I havent used the latest ones 3.7s but it seems the difference between omegas and ATIs are fewer and fewer The latest 3.7s from ATI are very good. I may try the omegas later.I think ATI now also includes the software 9700 to 9800 hack in its drivers like omega does.

so these are better then 45.23? i want to install them but do i have to uninstall my current drivers first?

just noticed he said...
Due to a serious problem I'm having with current nvidia drivers, they will work in "Performance" mode only in direct3d, even if you select "Quality" during installation, opengl still has the extra quality.

that sucks - there will be reduced quality?

Just set a restore point before installing, that way you can remove the old drivers for best results.

The guy is fine, but Nvidia tried to prevent him to make one.

I'm running the FX 5200, Which one do I dload? Or, which one is the best to Dload. Don't know much about Drivers. But If it will be better than the original FX5200 drivers I'll definitely will do it. By Dloading it, will it open up some of my other options that are blocked off?

Thx for any info !

can someone help me? do i need to uninstall my current drivers to install the omega ones?
also can u tell me whether or not i will see reduced quality if im used to running in Quality mode... because of this issue:
"Important: Due to a serious problem I'm having with current nvidia drivers, they will work in "Performance" mode only in direct3d, even if you select "Quality" during installation, opengl still has the extra quality. They will be updated as soon as I can fix this problem."
thanks
