A lot of people who love the original splinter cell style are disappointed at the direction Conviction is going, so I have a suggestion on how it may be possible to fix this. Simply create a new game which is a spin-off to Splinter Cell. Episodic stories that don't have anything to do with Sam Fisher but is based around the NSA. Maybe the new game can be called Shadownet based on the Shadownet spies or something like that.

Ubisoft isnt even looking for a way to "fix" this. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

SC:Shadownet would be a fantastic idea. Just an improved and expanded MP game based on the old Chaos Theory SvM gameplay.
I know copius amounts of people who'd buy it

yeah, and maybe have a single player game that shows a shadownet spy taking the same role as Third Echelon agents.

"How to preserve the original Splinter Cell style."
I thought Microsoft did this by making SC 1-4 backwards compatible, and by Ubi making a 360 version of DA http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Third Echelon could just be replaced by something else, since Third Echelon is all messed up in Conviction. They disband third echelon. make another, more secure replacement to it, and put sam fisher back in his original job.

Not a bad idea. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif That way they can focus less on Sam and more on other Splinter Cells. They must have good stories to tell to. Give Bob and Steve their own game! (Sorry too much of G4's parody)

good idea.
but perhaps theyre gonna kinda return to the old style in sc6, cause i dont see much space for many stories that fit into the lore in the new gamplay (although i like it)

From what I know ConViction was supposed to be the last game in this series. But I could always be wrong.

I have never heard that? I get the idea that Ubi will try to milk the franchise to its dying breath. But I could be wrong, do you have a link?

It isn't the last in the series. Knowing Ubisoft there will probably be 10 games. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif I bet in SC10 Sam will have to be an undercover janitor who is 78 years old.
Well maybe not but you know Ubi is totally money hungry.

It's too late. But the Conviction story should of been the spin-off, not Spliter Cell.

I agree with the whole spin-off thing but I think I have something that's maybe just as good. Before each mission in SC:CT we were given the option to choose Assault, Stealth, or Redding's Recommendation. So why not give us the option to play Conviction the classic way or the new fugitive way. Maybe before each mission we can choose Classic or Fugitive. Classic wouldn't really work during the day so it would take place at night and maybe Sam would get his stealth equipment from an underground source. If it were to be done this way not only would it appeal to the hardcore fans, it just might bring some rookies aboard who want a more action feel than stealth. Also, imagine the replayability one would have if the developers went this route instead forcing the crowd mechanic because I believe another game that's coming out soon also uses that mechanic...I think it's called Assassin's Creed.

dont forget: the first few missions will be in the old sc style, until sam discovers the conspiracy

Wrong.
There will be no shadow-stealth whatsoever, so it can't be the "old sc style".

Show me that mag and the line where they said it, I bet you just misunderstood something.

well i looked through my old mags and must admit i didnt find it. but i wonder how i could be absolutely sure that i read that? i thought i could even remember the context, that they said it after they told about the split-up of the missions into 15-minute-passages.

A simple way of preserving the 'classic' Splinter Cell style is...
Don't buy Conviction?
If you think it's going to be that poor, then don't buy it.
We are yet to know how Splinter Cell 6 it going to be like, but for now, play the old ones
Either that or try and do something about it (Contact Ubisoft etc).
Time spent wishing is time wasted.
