i think this needs to happen. every single game out there is "class based" now. maybe you can choose between ARs and SMGS but stuff like snipers, rockets and shotguns maybe should be weapon placements.
lots of "gametypes" could also not be created. D day didnt work, or any fun type maps you made didnt work well.
whos with me? i think it would be A LOT more interesting...

I think you can do both at the same time, as long as you can only start with low to medium strengh weapons and have weapons that are mid to high out on the field that you can't start with.

Far Cry 3's mapmaking needs to allow us to place weapons on the map. I don't understand why Ubisoft made the decision to get rid of them when they add a lot of customization to maps. (+ their decision to get rid of zip lines, wave runners/rafts/ zip lines, etc.

This is the problem / dilemma that they have.
Far Cry 1 allowed us to pick up weapons from dead players in multiplayer and in the editor we could place weapons where we wanted. Health Packs and Armor
Far Cry 2 has the class system and the ammo boxes, and you can heal yourself whenever you want.
There is clearly a split from old and new Far Cry players in what they want.
The result MAKE THEM BOTH HAPPY.
This is extremely simple to do, Keep the class system for those that like it and also have an Original mode for the ones that like to pick up weapons and have them all start/spawn with the same basic weapons - they can then pick up weapons on the ground or from dead players.
Now in the Map Editor when someone makes a map they can have it work as standard but if they want the map to work in both modes (Normal / Original) then all they do is tick a box for add (Original Mode) this then allows the placing of weapons for that map.
------------------------------------------------------------
I am not a huge fan of the Weapon Class System on any game, but what choice do we have with FPS games nowadays, With FC2 I only really choose 2 types, the commando for small maps and anything mid sized to large I use the Saboteur.
About the above, why have a split in the community when you can keep everyone happy - Simple.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif Well I like the load out thing but that should have Clasic Style game mode too whith weapons on map that be cool so u have both http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif
Also I think they should do more things like Call of Duty it not copying cuz lots do this now & that is weapon attachments & things... I like to chage things on my weapon & i like camo.. Make it customizable & characters too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I think a hybrid system where your charatcers have diffrent weapons that they pick up based on their class. For example let's say your an assault class; you start off with a weak pistol 9mm or something like that and an MP5, now instead of having the weapons on the field for you to pickup you have 3 or 4 diffrent gun crates that have more powerful weapons in each one, but instead of being everyone gets the same weapon out of it, each class gets a diffrent weapon out of it, for example, a top level gun crate would give our assault guy a gernade launcher but would give a sniper a 50 cal. You could even improve on this by making it so you could custimze your class to have diffrent weapons than the standard ones from these crates. IMO this is the best way to merge class based with weapon pickup, new players are on equal ground with experinced players equipment wise, which makes it so a new player dosen't feel discouraged from playing, just think about how many times in FC2 when you started playing you had that 1 guy that was 10 levels higher than you spamming the MGL or picking everyone off with the 50 cal; it ****ed you off didn't it. Not to mention that most people that play FC (at least on console) play non-ranked matches so they play custom maps and avoid that situation in fact most host set it so everything is unlocked right away, if I was dev I would pry take note of that and either remove the class based element or make it into a hybrid system like the one I just described.

The first farcry had weapon placement, I agree with the original post, Small loadout and weapon placment would really give this game a amazing kick, you can personlise your loadouts but still place weapons on your maps.

Although that would be interesting, it would be better to give us the option to use: weapon loadouts or weapon placements (or a mix of both) for unranked custom maps.
Edit: This is because there are innumerable maps out there that would only work with weapon placements. (limiting 1 factor can severely limit the game)
Ubisoft should look into what they can do to improve their mapmaking system (not just in the layout, but with additional options [weapons, vehicles, weather, classic objects, weapon placements, etc])

Personally I would like to see a hybrid between the two and only that, the artificial limit forces creativity.
Creation without limits lacks creativity and resourcefulness is basiclly what I'm saying.

Make each gun you place able to be customized in the editor.
Red dot and camos etc.

I would like to see something new personally. Ive played both types of multiplayer and they have gotten boring because they both have been done before. I dont want to buy something that i already own. I would agree that some sort of hybrid would be nice. Perhaps there are a few loadouts that you can start with that dont have the greatest weapons in the game. Then on the map are just better weapons.

I like the hybrid idea Because my weapons would break often. It can be anoing to loose your kill streak because your weapons break. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

are you serious kid? This is Farcry. Weapon placement was already originally in FarCry, and that came out BEFORE HALO.
