its the altenative for a chat room. that way if your parents are wary of where you go on the net' you can say its not a chat room, and u wouldn't be lying. just tell them its part of a forum. others, such as myself, use school comps for a half hour or so before school, and during lunch if we don't finish posting, and then we get home time. it depends on how busy u are. IRC is like an outlet for stress, for some ppl as well

You can also be connected to multiple servers using mIRC. When you add a server to the list and connect to it, just check the 'New Server Window' box and it will open a new connection.
