serious casualties for the IJN

my first patrol back after six months was a huge success! i came apon a task force of 6 destroyers 6 lite crusiers and 6 personel carriers and what a mess i made of them!

i also noticed something that i am not sure if any has notices before, i was up close watching one of my torps hit a dd and after it hit all the men that were on deck were lying all over the place dead. this kinda shocked me and i missed getting a screenie, so on my next torp i got up close again and after the smoke cleared i got this:

also i had two dd actualy begin a proper sub attack run on me with one dd ahead of another like so:

unfortunately they did not complete the attack and the second one broke off and circled around behind me.

and one more thing i noticed is that my crew seem to be quite lazy and have not cleaned my props in a long time, just look at those things!http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii191/pookapotamus/posts/SH4Img2008-07-12_195544_461.jpg
i wonder if cleaner props would yeild more speed???

PS. does any one know why in the first pic one of the 18 sunk ships is grey????

I went and sank a ship yesterday in super heavy fog but I never got close enough for it to be identified. When it sunk the ship icon was gray. Maybe the gray means your crew did not identify the ship that was sunk. I still got credit for it.

Or someone else sunk it. But the first explanation is the most likely. Did you get credit? You probably play with more realism than me.

I've just completed my 6th mission on this patrol, have sunk 10 warships, (disabled a DD on my recon run) and that includes the present I left as I turned around to leave on the 2 shokakus I just photoed http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif and 33 merchants for 216000 and change. Who do I thank for leaving that sub tender force at tulagi? Time to go back, reload, and blow up some stuff. (admittedly atleast 10 of those merhchants were sampans and junks, fishingboats ect. Even had a junk, a fishingboat, and a lrg sampan show up as a CONVOY on the map LOL. Sent them all to the bottom.

yes i did get credit for it and it is very possible that my crew did not see it go down so it could be a unconfirmed kill. that being said i am going to check my log and make sure that i got credit for it. as for some one else sinking it, i don't think so as there were no planes in the area and the destroyers were too busy with me.
