A total career, start of war until the end and not died once?
Unrealistic, takes about 30-40 patrols depending on your style, but nonetheless my goal. I've been so close.
So I will seriously try this next career.

Well MWolfe, the closest I've come is july '45.
Right now, I'm on patrol 21 in september '44. I was doing really good until my previous patrol, which I got back to base with all my torp tubes wrecked. The Formosa Strait is really fun, but deadly!!! Found all the huge convoys you've previously posted about. Can't imagine takin' 'em on with elite crews. Can't get around without havin' to attack in shallow water, and those damn escorts seem quite intuitive. I really have modified my aggressiveness this time, in this career. Hope to make it to the end. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
BTW I'm runnin' TMO w/RSRD at the highest difficulty, save for external cam.

Several times, not a big deal.

I've finished several. Two in stock (maybe three) and two in RFB. Currently working on finishing TMO, just past the war's midway point, early 44.

I went back and toned the escorts back down. Elite is too much in shallow water.
Formosa is fun late war with all the Type AB escorts in shallow water, but a good way to die.
Just be careful in the deep water in the middle, heavily mined.
This time I'm looking in areas I don't normally patrol. Went looking around Cam Rayh..spl, but never been there at the start, although seen the flash messages about warships. I ran into a Kongo TF and sank 1, then a large invasion group about 200nms SE, then got the flash for the IJN TF. I only had 4 torps and only got one hit on a BB.
Funny, I refitted and went to Brunei Bay and got a large convoy. First time I've seen a group of about 16 fishing boats escorted by 4 subchasers.

I suppose, if it was late in the war when food is scarce, Sushi was probably worth it's weight in gold by then. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Well, what a crock. I was looking for the invasion force near Merak and decided to peek inside the Sundra and got a large contact of many ships. It was storming, so I figured I would move in on the surface and go at it. Sonar stated closet warship moving away.
Out of the blue..ship sighting, went to the bridge and oh boy. He was coming full blast. Knocked the sub over for a flip that it put me below decks. First time ever killed by nothing but ramming, but both were going full speed..

Haha that would be a first for me. I've rammed ships (fishing boats when totally out of ammo) but never been rammed.
Looks like the crew on the gun turret knows whats goin' on too. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

With the German. Does that count?
As I've said before, I like to terminate a career not too long after making captain. Ideally, I like to make captain after patrol 6 and then play 2 or 3 more patrols.
I've been pretty consistent with that.
I did retain the in-port save for the Burt Lancaster career (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6421019045/m/6691043098) at the conclusion of Patrol 8 (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6421019045/m/7461077498). So, I could resurrect the career and continue on. Probably won't though. I just started a career in which I deliberately shut off the external camera. If I have it, I can't seem to avoid taking screen shots, and then I want to write up accounts of interesting patrols. That eats up a lot of time.

Just finished second one - must say was different from first time through - must be TMO 2.0 and RSRD where I used TMO wTw last time.
Never got to Fremantle or Brisbane this time.
However on last patrol in early August got that 4 ship fleet with the Yamamoto 63,000 ton Battleship. Shows up around 3110N by 12840E. 1st time was 4/7/45 - this is the fleet that disappears into thin air. Actually had plenty of torps this time and got it in one go.
EDIT: Must emphasise I did not finish without a few sinkings and I also play on easy so no great achievement but I enjoy it - don't know what I'll do now but at least the war is over.

Ah that's a shame as I love reading your reports. However I completely understand although will never turn it off myself - not just for SS but I like to know where I am and watch the scenery http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I'm a habitual career re-starter. I usually don't make it past 24-30 months, just because I want to tweak some mod or start some other career path/concept, tinker with a crew idea or try a new boat. I tend to play a pretty conservative game, so it's usually not death that ends it. Usually.

I have finished U-Boat careers three or four times. My American careers usually lock up after 4 or 5 patrols. I;m on patrol 11 at the moment. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I play stock.

Having finished a German career with the Type XVIII, now that I'm back to playing American I'm having a hard time getting used to not being able to go to 200 meters and sprint from an attack at 24 knots or silent run at 10.
By way of compensation, it's nice to have the 3D TDC (mod) and PK.

Just tried SHV again briefly - it has some pretty things but I like SHIV better. Will start a new career soon.
