Anti Cheat Program

I dont see on the forums where it says anything about what anti cheat will be added to this game if any. No built in anti cheat will meen failure for this game, its allready being hacked. I almost hate i spent the money on the game/new video card to play the game.Original GR was bad enough with the hacks,i would think someone would of learned a lesson and added Punk Buster to this before release.

Yeah they havent really said anything about the anti-cheat. Without a anti-cheat game is doomed from the start.

Especially since you cant even kick or ban anyone without the anti-cheat now.

Oh boo-hoo, big deal. An anti-cheat system is not whats needed, better non-exploitable code is whats needed. Cheats will only work because of gaps and exploits in code.

Cheats are like virus's they cant write a program to detect the cheat untill the cheat is out and they know what to look for, just like a virus protection program.
I mean look at most games PB is out for.....And still lots of cheaters in those games going undetected
Might aswell just face the fact that if you play online there will be cheaters

But without a anticheat you will be playing with 1000 cheaters, while with a anticheat you will be playing with 10 cheaters.

Also PB does have tools to protect from cheats it doesnt know how to detect yet. Like Screen Shots and Scanning memory ranges.

The community would be better served if they implement admin tools as well PB is ok but no replacement for a live admin and the ability to kick/ban the tards by GUID/IP

Banning by IP is useless. Most tards that come in a server to cause havok know how to cycle IP's. This was illustrated very well by SWAT4 and thier ban by IP method. That was it. You ban someone and 2 minutes later they were back. Then you had to resort to wild cards on the ban and would ban an entire ISP's subnet just to block the jerk from coming back in. I hope for gods sake they don't rely just on IP for bans.

Not trying to argue but most hacks have ways of providing a screen shot cleaner than or as clean as a non cheater when PB trys to get a SS of them.
The screen shots you generally see of cheats are taken by cheaters themselves

what we see most often with blocked screenshots, blacked out screens, static screens, or screens that are messed up trying to look like it's having technical issues. I have yet to see or read of a cheat that actaully returns true clean shots.

A vigilant admin can spot any of the three easily. With messed up or black screens, all the admin had to do is tell the player nicely to resolve his screenshots and once they do they are welcom back in the server. With the static screen all you have to be on the alert for is a player returning the same group of screens over and over again.

do hacks run as a seprate program in the background or are they broken versions of graw? like someone recoding the software?

cos i was thinking if it was a background program why not make anit cheat a thing that scans your own pc for background procceses and upload them to a server to verifi if it was a hack or not im sure a program could find out when exsactly the program started so say the program was run after loading graw or just before it could be alerted as a possable cheat?

aswell if it was a recoded program the anitcheat software could probably scan all the files for there size and up load them to the size it should be, i mean every charactor is like a bites worth of date and everyones game should have the same amount of data.

possablie idears to look for aniti cheat instead of block and looking for seretain hacks

Depends on the cheat and the game. Some are an exploitation of modification of the the game or parts of the game. Such as modifying files and changing values in certain configs to enable things like retlock or god mode or unlimited ammo or super speed. Sometimes they replace texture files and sound files.

Others like wall hacks, esp, chams, etc are generally external programs that run and exploit the design of Microsoft's D3D to essentailly intercept the rendering calls and replace them with the ones of the cheat's author wishes. The pictures in this thread are perfect examples of that type of cheat.

ive played graw alot and ive died loads of times last night i kept running about and dieing at peoples knees but i soon got around that by taking it a bit slower.

PB works on a 32 digit id from each game, how this is made up im not sure, from hardware on your pc or even the cd key, either way there isnt many duplicate guid's, when the ac community release checks in the form of md5 and cvar, these checks look for file sizes in the game folders, and other things, as running bot will modify the exe file, also in the memory of the running task, even by a few kb pb will kick for this, you start to run other things like screenshot blockers, pb will global harware you, tham means screw with 1 pb enabled game and get a pbhw ban u dont play any other pb games,

Punkbuster is a nice addition to slow down the ammount of cheats playing games, ok its not 100% but id rather have some protection from cheats than none at all, baning by ip, mac, and name is useless in most games anyway. give me pb for grwa

the ac community that im a memeber of normally release checks for pb as soon as the cheat is detected, normally anything from 2 hours to a couple of days, ok, its not nice having to wait 2 days but its nice to see them script kiddies locked away to a nice ban list..

one cheat site is not happy with a certain ac community on aa, they are really unhappy :-)

I read in a post (I think on ghostrecon.net) that they were not going to use a 3rd party anti-cheat and that they would be adding their own. In fact I just found the thread I read it in.
