After plenty 1A, I have to make a Dash one! So this is the first release, a FG-1D, (F4U-1D by Goodyear), of VMF-312 on Okinaxa, april 1945.
Have fun

Owsome skin.
I had VMF-312 in Aces High but that squadron was already taken when I came here. I respectfully recognized that and moved on....
Very nice skin
Also, I have M.O. Chance's email address and sent him this screen shot.

That's some of the best line, color and weathering work I've seen.
Excellent job, Obelix!

I was part of the fench beta testing team, last year, this template was developped by a group of french skinner: Josse, Zargos and Merlin (WM on Check six site). I have made some changes, and create the weathering and so on!

An awesome skin for sure. I think my grandpa's F4 was a Goodyear product, but I'm not sure and neither is he.

Thank you for the offer sir, but someone has made one for me and I wouldn't want to put you to the trouble of making another:

But here is a photograph anyway in case you would like a copy:

The word "Kitten" is stenciled on the right side of the engine cowling. The words "Sky Devils" is stenciled on the left side you see in the photograph. Apparently this was the name of his individual unit within VMF-113. VMF-113 was known as "The Whistling Devils".
Here is an interesting photograph:

It is the only instance of actual artwork I can find in the VMF-113 photos. Unfortunately there are no other photos of this pilot or his Corsair.

Thanks for this photo.
Note that: The plane belongs to the Navy, not to the Marine Corps, the serial number!
Great!

Yes indeed! The United States Marine Corps is a department of the U.S. Navy. I assume all Marine aircraft from this era have Navy markings on them somewhere. I also found it interesting that the model number is stenciled on the tail. I never knew they did that until my grandfather showed me these photographs.
I have found a better cowling photograph for you :

Note that the number five is actually an upside down number two.

Ok, I must fixed the problem with the right side of the cowling. I find a lovely "pin up", and add "Sky Devils" on the left. Strangely, "65" does not appear on left side (?).
Some shots:

Very nice! You did a fantastic job with the weathering.
A few observation points for the next incarnation:
1. The pin-up is on a different airplane. It is not on #65. I'm sorry- I thought I made that clear.
2. Some airplanes in VMF-113 had numbers on both sides of the cowling. Some only had it on one side. I don't know why.
3. There is a black line between the numbers on the front-facing landing gear doors between the six and the five.
4. The word Kitten is in quotation marks on the cowling.
So far, so good!

Ok, no pin up! (Do you know wich plane had it?)
For the number painted only on one side, may be a problem with spare pieces (part of the cowling was probably changed, no time to paint a number or it was overpainted).
I will do those changes (quotation, black line, and so on).
It would be ready tomorrow.
It's funny, "65" is also my personnal number on this plane, because I was born in 65!
(Sorry for my poor english)
Best regards
