Never have I so enjoyed watching any film awards as I did this last Golden Globe awards... :bg

Nothing like the host telling them like it is.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

As L/Cpl Jones was wont to say: "They don't like it up 'em". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I just saw Ricky's second HBO special which was outstanding, but this hosting stuff isn't for him. Faux-"edginess" can't compensate for a raft of weak jokes.

Not so much the weak jokes as more to the point observations in a humurous way... much to the embarrasment of the victims.
The film set always seem to consider themselves immune, and are so PC it's sickening...

This is timely fresh 'review'. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Ricky Gervais is an obnoxious smug ****. I'd like to smash a pool cue over his head if I were ever to see him in a pub.

+1. I don't care whether or not he's pretending to be a smug ****, it's just I can go to a pub and meet plenty of those if I desperately want. Which I don't.

That was the greatest slaughter of complacent boobs I've seen since Don Imus lampooned the Clintons at a correspondent's dinner ages ago. Yes, even lives completely scripted as Hollywood nabobs are can have a random event in the form of Gervais, who was Mr Punch with his whacker laying into them left and right. It was beautiful watching Johnny Depp masticating his gum like a serial murderer under interrogation.

Gervais, bless him, would last six seconds on this forum, which speaks volumes.

I think his 2010 presentation was very much superior. I agree with R_Target, the jokes were a bit poor this time round.

The original Office was a masterpiece of subtlety in my opinion.

Arrogant or not, he's a great comedian.

To be fair, though, I can imagine this being very funny. Maybe I should watch the video, haha. I do hate Ricky Gervais to an irrational degree...but then I do enjoy the idea of him being a **** to people who could probably do with their heads being deflated.

I think that he'd manage. I can't imagine that that man's self-esteem is easily dented. I think that the absurdity of our hobby would be a good starting point...

Leit is right though. He wouldn't, if he was a troll on here everyone from Avro, Leit, GoToAway, Bearcat would tear him a new ********. That's why I stick around here as although this is a die-hard and very geeky hobby, you guys have a ****ing good sense of humor and everyone on this board has an opinion that I can take on board and learn from.

**** I think I've learnt more from you lot than I did from my own parents. In fact I don't know where I'd be right now without the intellectual input of this forum, I seem to remember it was Megile who encouraged me to go to university about 5 years ago when I didn't really believe in myself.

Honestly I had a hard time socially growing up because of the way I looked (lots of orthodontic problems) and I think I would have gone off the rails if it wasn't for this forum reminding me that there was a big world out there and that adults treated each other a little better than people my own age.

These days I'm doing pretty damn well socially, had a few nice girlfriends, bedded some really good looking birds, I'm at university, I have plenty of friends and some good friends. I honestly think this forum was instrumental in me not going "Holden Caulfield" on the world.

It sounds sad but it's the truth. One day I'm going to write a book which will be dedicated to all the members on this board. The ubizoo may be a clownwagon but it's our clownwagon and If anyone of you were ever stuck in my country, I don't care who it was....Mortoma...GoToAway....any political or religous background....you'd be able to crash at mine. You'd be shown the best hospitality I could offer.

Night ladies. Consider that my personal thanks to the community even though I don't play IL2 that much anymore.

I never watch these stupid awards shows. I think they are just a bunch of patting each other on the back for people who don't need to be encouraged any more than they already are.

I don't think he would be a troll on here, to be fair. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif You wouldn't be able to tell how smug he was, it would just be someone who made "clever" sarcastic observations all the time. All the aggravation in that man radiates from his gigantic self-satisfied face, I think.
I used to lurk this forum occasionally when I was younger, back when FB had just come out and I was busy trying to work out how to make the gunsights line up and how not to stall everything all the time, but I never bothered to post because I wasn't a huge player back then.
The girl I just started seeing actually asked me to tell her about flight-sims and we had a decent few minutes' conversation about it...I don't know what to do, this is totally outside my experience. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

I never watch this cr.p, but the other night just sat down with the wife to watch... I couldn't believe what I was hearing, and 'quickly grabbed a beer and popcorn'.

I work in this industry and most are OK people, but you certainly get the prima-donna's.. This show was 'just perfect'... pity I missed last years event. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

If arrogance was such a negative attribute Hitler would never have become so popular.
