plz help multiplayer

hi i am not sure on geting the game i mainly want it for multiplayer. i read the faqs it says i guess for when it first came out only multiplayer of coop vs ai. since its been out for a while i am wondering do they have 1vs1 now i can go against another person stead of ai. if not can also plz say if any other new types of multiplayer thx.
