Blur/Bloom tweak - Not working. Help.

Hi,

I am trying to take off the blur and bloom by using this tweak:

Go to this folder file

C: \Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas\Engine\Shaders\HLSL\MegaPostProcess\Blur.hls l

open it up in notepad

find:
return lerp(PreviousColor, BlurColor, Factor) + BloomColor;

replace with:
return lerp(PreviousColor, BlurColor, Factor);

Now, I did all that (really simple) and it takes off the blur. But it should take off the bloom aswell, which it doesn't.

I tried a few other things and that haven't worked. Doing this would raise my fps by about 6-8fps, and I get only 17-26 fps at the moment on this terrible system:

Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 3000+ @ 2.2GHz
RAM: 1280MB
GFX Card: Nvidia GeForce 6800GS AGP x8 - 256mb
Moniter: Sharp LL-T17D4-B

(I am trying to take away the bloom effect)

Did you tweak other files regarding blur or bloom aswell ? If so, that may conflict this tweak.

i dont think so :/ I did a re-install to make sure, I will put the original keller files in to make sure.

i run my Graphics options like this:
Resolution: 1280*1024
V-sync: Off
Hardware Skinning: Off
HDR: On
Shadows quality: Very Low
Motion Blur: Off/On (i change alot)
Blur quality: Very Low
Brightness: 7

Ok, If done right the bloomcolor tweak should work for you.

My graphics are run quite the same.

Right now the only tweaks I use (that work) are:

1. Minor changes to kellerengine.cfg (like max texture size and shadow sizes)

2. A minor edit to 'ShadowDepthTest.hlsl'

3. In the 'StaticProjectShadow' folder i renamed both files. Just added a '_' before each of them (I will take them off to check if thats a problem)

4. DistanceFog is now _DistanceFog

That's it. Right now i'm going to try removing tweak #3

i turned it off in the graphic settings and low setting...i have no blur and bloom

anyone try that b4 editing .inis?

There is nothing wrong with doing these tweaks. Period!

And 'Cheaters'? I'm kinda confused right now. I dont think you should really be saying that kinda stuff in a thread that is just asking for help. As for the Distance fog, Its already been done like ages ago :/

All the distance fog does is make, obviously, distance fog... so you can shut up.

You are just stating the very obvious, yet very wrong...

First off: If I take off HDR then I get errors in my game and can't play.

Secondly: You cant get 'No blur' from the options

Thirdly: they arn't ini's :P lol they are hlsl's. Im just kidding about that one though.

Changing your resolution has a big impact on your performance, you should be at 1024x768, that would give you at least 5 more fps. You also may want to turn hdr off, this has a big impact on performance in most cases as well.

all i did was turn blur off and very low quality vs blur on and very high

ahh clever arnt we. you sound like a twelve year old here.

tweaks like the bloom seem pretty simple. The + Bloom Color tweak should work if done correctly.

but. if you do what dfmafia explains, that will also take off the blur and bloom i think.

and by the way if you turn off HDR and the game crashes theres something radicly wrong with your graphics card/drivers.

v2k4: It doesn't actually crash or anything. It just makes the textures on everything look like ****. They go all green/red/yellow/blue.

at 1280x1024 ??

i can bearly get my game to run above 35 fps in 1024x768.

youve gotta face facts and lower your your resolution and thatll be the biggest change you can do

i aint sure what size screen that sharp monitor is. but if you can lower the resolution a bit.

You guys are kidding, right? Surely you must be, becuase, I get the same fps as I get when running @ 1024x786.

C'mon guys, I asked a question asking for help to fix a tweak, I didn't exactly say I wanted extra fps from changing my settings, did I.
