I've added some helpful functionality to the SetKeys program, and fixed a few little things. The user can edit the command_en.cfg and _de.cfg files now, as they seem to be in the same format. The user can now search the command list, which is a great improvement over the hunt and peck method. The user can also directly enter keystrokes from the keyboard, which might help those using international keyboards, since it takes the raw keycodes from the keyboard. This function may cause faults; if it does, email me with the keycode, the key it's attached to, and your keyboard nationality; I'll add it to the program ASAP (takes about five minutes). In any case, it shouldn't crash the program, it just means the key is not in the hash list.

Edit: New version-
Version 1.3 is now available at my site.

Version 1.11 is now up on my site. It contains an important bug fix, so go get it! The next version 1.2 is coming soon, and will have support for UK keyboards as well as US. Send me a list of your nationality's keycodes, and get your keyboard supported too! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

That sounds really good, but do I find these keycodes? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It'd be cool to have our Italian keyboards mapped.

Where do I look for the keycodes?

Timetraveller has a utility you can use, and you can find it here. (http://www.delraydepot.com/tt/sh3.htm)
Also, in version 1.2, I'm going to include a 'Find codes' mode, which will allow you to type a key, and get the decimal keycode back. This is a prelude to a mode that will allow the user to customize there version for whatever keyboard they have. The 'Custom' mode is probably the most practical complete solution, but I would still like to add support for major keyboards. One other thing, though; I'll need whoever sends me a list to be available to test the program after I code it. It should be a fairly painless process. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Ok, 1.2 is now ready to go. If anyone tries it and is using a UK keyboard notices any problems, please let me know what they are. You can email me at cavalier889@hotmail.com. Now to what's new:
It shouldn't throw exceptions on unknown keys anymore, and it will map anything that it gets from the keyboard. To users who get an <UNKNOWN> key on pressing shift or control, make sure you don't send those on as maps; it will cause trouble in the game. 1.2 has a mode that reports what the application gets to the user, so that should make getting other international keylists a little easier. 1.2 has UK support, based on the keymap list I got. As per request, the KeySelector title bar shows the name of the command being edited. For the artistic types, you can now create a custom background for the application.

Version 1.2 is now up on my site.

Enjoy!

Version 1.3 is now up. It adds German KB support, as well as extensive German translation when in that KB mode. Also new are:
The ability to select a .bmp background from within the application.
The ability to change the various text and background colors on the main form to go with your new custom background.
The ability to generate a printable Command-keymap text file.
Tooltips (in English).
More detailed help.
An alternate background .bmp by Maverick_[GER].
Various tweaks and bug fixes.

Get it from my site now, or soon at Subsim.com.

Feel free to link my site to German speaking boards as well. I'd do it, but I can't speak German. A huge thanks to Maverick_[GER] for the help!
