View Full Version : Machine hangs with small artifacting on campaign mode

Hey all,
I just dowloaded the demo the other night and played the custom game no problem at all. Today I tried to play in campaign mode and am having a lot of problems. The first time it froze 2 turns into the game when it was doing progress bar for red player... and there was a small amount of artifacting. I had to hard reset the machine to fix it.
Second try playing campaign mode game hung on the screen where i select my starting reward ( ie. griffons, clover or cash. Again hard restart.
Third try played about 5 turns in and then had to leave. No crash
4th try made it 2 turns in and app hung on first encounter with dogs down and to the righ of the path. was able to alt tab out and end task.
5th try made it 3 turns and machine hung on the after completing fight with the horned demons by the stable ( one thing I am noticing is that it never crashes on the map screen just loading and most often battle summary screens.
Machine specs:
AMD 3000+
msi neo3 platnum
asus 6800gt agp vid card
2gb kingston ddr400 cl 2.5
seagate sata drives for apps and wd drive for OS
using onboad realtek ac97 for sound.
enermax 485watt ps
win xp sp2 all updates and latest drivers
latest bios flash on motherboard.
Any help would be great.

Yeah all other games are stable with the exception of the occasional crash in oblivion but i hear that is fairly common on that game.

Any ideas would be great. Only thing i can think of atm is to unistall and reinstall the game in case some file was corrupted during the first time it crashed. If that works I will let you know.
If this is a bug of some sort is there a way to submit it to UBI?

Try moving you profile folder (Heroes of Might and Magic V\Demo\profiles\Direwulff) to another location so that the game recognises your video card again.
Unfortunately i've never seen anyone with this error cause it seems the game has a conflict with your video card's driver.(there are way to many direct3d errors ... )
Can you also post your video driver? Just to be sure. Oh and btw try this driver too.

Well I uninstalled the game and deleted all folders and registry entries manually afterwards. Then reinstalled and got to the fight with the first set of cerbus dogs. Game locked me up in the combat summary stage with the glove over the ok button.
