The stupidest question ever

Running the risk of posing the most stupid question this forum has seen, here goes:

How do you stealth?

I got the third ball in the stealth skill so now I'm supposed to be able to be almost invisible. But how is it done? I tried sneaking up on some goblins but they all saw me instantly. Is it a passive skill (which is always on) and I just have to stay in the shadows to remain "invisible" or do I have to do something special to trigger it (like crouching and "walking"..?).

(I get a script error on the forum page when I do "new->discussion" so I had to do "new->poll" instead, which seems to work. That's why this is a poll and not a discussion. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif )

Use all your skillpoints to acquire weapons and armory suited for stealth. To be unseen as long as possible, you need your footsteps not to be heard easily, and wear a stealth armour.

I personally prefer the "strength" (combined with some magic) way, so i hack and slash, arrow from distance and 'magic spell' my way through the game, stealth didn't appeal to me that much yet, and you have to choose...

Did you actually look into the manual at least once?

The reticule in the centre of the screen shows how stealthy you are. Each section will fill up as you get quieter. If it is full they can walk right past you and see nothing.
Brightly lit areas do NOT allow stealth.
Crouching WILL make you more stealthy, as will walking (crouching is best).

Being stealthy in this game is like being stealthy in real life... ill explain:

WALK !!! so you make less noise when you walk and they will not ehar you...

ATTACK FROM BEHIND !!! So they will not see you coming...

GET KNIVES AND BACKSTAB THESE *****ES !!! do i have to explain this part ?
