Jack Churchill.

Here's a link to the wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Churchill

A british soldier in WWII who fought with nothing but a sword, bow and arrow, and a set of bagpipes.

One night, he single-handedly took forty-two German prisoners and captured a mortar crew using only his broadsword. He simply took one patrolling guard as a human shield and went around from sentry post to sentry post, sneaking up on the guards and then shoving his sword in their faces until they surrendered. His response when asked about how he was able to capture so many soldiers so easily:

"I maintain that, as long as you tell a German loudly and clearly what to do, if you are senior to him he will cry 'jawohl' (yes sir) and get on with it enthusiastically and efficiently whatever the situation."

Eccentric until the end, Churchill would toss his briefcase out of the window of the commuter train he rode home every day. Passengers and conductors were shocked because they didn't know he was throwing the luggage into his own backyard as the train passed by. It saved him the trouble of carrying it all the way home from the station.

What an amazing story!

He once said "any officer who goes into action without his sword is improperly dressed".

Hey now, you do know that 8 Scots and a set of pipes makes for a rebellion! Atleast once we decide what to rebel against, perhaps polyester!

When I look at those pics of the crusader standing with his arms on this sword, I think of that scene with the Black Knight in Monty Python's Holy Grail: "None shall pass!"

I just love the scene just after the black knight lost his second arm.

Arthur knees down and begins to pray "My Lord ! I thank thee for this vic......." and exactly in that moment , he recieves a kick in the arse by the black knight and falls over http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

And here it is !

Battle with the black Knight (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eMkth8FWno)

Oh i just saw it was a kick against the helmet not his arse http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

But my absolute favourite is the french taunting

French taunting (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9V7zbWNznbs&mode=related&search=) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

"Is there someone else up there we could talk to ?" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

"What are you doing in England anyway ?" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

"Now go away you english thuds or i will taunt you a second time! " http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Thats inner-european diplomacy in its finest , purest and most artful form. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Ah...where have these times of clear words gone ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Notice the similarity between the british and the german crusader shields. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

But our helmets were much more fancy http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
