Or If you prefer getting down and dirty, a little low level strike and bombing might be right up your alley! Why not try WTE No.460 squadron.
Or If you enjoy leveling enemy facilities from 7000 meter's while staring through your bomb scope why not try our newest Squadron, WTE No.12 Squadron.
But don't just take my word for it, swing by our website and check out the Mighty Wedge Tailed Eagles!

Good One Tigger,
And as you can see from other threads they work! Our latest recruit is inbound - doubtless drawn by the formidable lure of No12 Squadron where the men go!
Of course he is being a bit shy and joining one of the fighter squadrons, but quality will always prevail and we will get him!

As you can see, there's a fair amount of choice available in WTE, so I might as well put in a plug for 460 Squadron and help you narrow down those choices. I guess, the experienced flyers out there, have already chosen the aircraft types they specailise in and that's fair enough. However, if your scene is IL2's, Stuka's or anything else used for ground attack, then this is the Squadron for you. WTE plans to fly Russian in VEF and that means 460 Squadron will fly with the VVS Sturmovik Squadrons and go hunting for big game, like tigers, panthers, elephants and all other sorts of german tanks. You may ask yourself, "Why fly IL2's?" Well for starters, the simulation is called "IL2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles". Not "109 Forgotten Battles" or "He111 Forgotten Battles", nope, the name of the plane is the name of the game. All the rest are just extras. Other reasons, well here's a few, their fun and easy to fly. They carry heaps of bombs and rockets. They have bigger, more guns then most fighters around and they are seriously tough to shoot down. They have that cool, ugly hunchback look, that only a mother could love and they are a nasty piece of work to fly or fight against. They were the most mass produced combat aircraft ever and for good reason. Aside from this, the flyers in 460 are a pretty good bunch and team to be with. However, if you are new to FB / IL2, you are more than welcome to give 460 squadron a try. You should find ground attack aircraft are generally easier to learn and master. They have all the same gadgets and gear as the others, often with even more to experiment with. It's also a more rounded grounding in combat flying. Get to do everything, air to air, air to ground, air to sea, bombing, rockets, straffing, you name it. Anyway, wer'e always happy for new members and pass on advice if requested. See you around.

I'd better stop shootin down nme A/C in the virtual sky long enough to sing the virtues of No.75.
Well 75 is so good at what we do that we can often be found playing the bad guys on squad training nights. We employ section level combat tactics and look after each other in the virtual sky! Pick on one of us and you'll have a whole bunch of whoop-*** on top of yer head in no time flat!
If you want teamwork in yer FB gaming goodness then give No 75. 2TW a look up /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Hmmm! We should not be misleading. Tigger is quite right - we do have a lot of girls and most of them fly fighters (the men fly bombers!). The forthcoming BBQ season will be featuring the results of efforts to get through 12 Sqn's cross-fire defensive boxes on training evenings!
Naw! Our fighter jocks are a real good bunch and you should not mistake inter squadron banter for the serious consequences of an outsider coming near one of us on-line.
But quality does prevail so 460 and 12 bomber sqdns offer dimensions, variety, challenge, new skills, real mateship - and above all, tons of fun.
Get it on! Get onto 2TW

Time for me to pimp No.83 methinks.
Well...
No.83 employs element, section and squadron interactivity and teamwork to get our job done, be it escort, patrol or an offensive sweep. Using our combination of knowledge, flexibility and teamwork, we make life hell for the opposition, carrying the name of the Mighty 2nd forward.
Rigid formation, endless rules, and the same old thing over and over again? Not at No.83. What you *will* find at No.83 is a great bunch of pilots, teamwork, mateship and a hell of a lot of fun.
For a great time, join No.83, and ask for Helga.
And you lot shouldnt pick on our BBQ's. You need the fire and smoke as a navigation aid. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

S!
Greetings all,
Have you ever played FB TAG? That's forgotten Battles Tag, or as we call it here in Australia Tiggy (no pun intended.)
How do you play FB TAG?
It's easy. First you need a map with only 1 Airbase and a goodly selection of aircraft. Then you get your squad on the server and on the airbase ready to roll. Get everyone up and circling the base at a designated altitude and then your CO should declare someone as being "it"
The objective is simple;
The person who is "it" turns on their wingtip smoke, no one else may do this, only the person who is "it" may do this. The person who is "it" then is allowed to attack any other player in the air or on the ground. The players who are not"it" are not allowed to attack each other but must all try and destroy the player who is "it" and has their smoke on.
When someone downs the player who is "it" that's a confirmed kill, then the player who gets the kill is now "it" and turns their smoke on. Once again everyone is after the pilot who is "it" and the pilot who is "it" is now free to attack anyone.
And so the game proceeds.
Players may re-spawn and take off if they are downed, players need to remain within a designated vicinity i.e. Everyone stays around the airfield.
Using this basic formula (there are many variations.) one hell of a fun game ensues. If you have a time limit to the game of TAG then the player with the biggest minus score is most likely your winner.
If the guy who's it, is downed without a clear person to go it, then your CO can designate someone or as we prefer the person with the highest altitude is "it".
It's a great exercise to get your pilots working together, to train them on close combat energy and SA. It's also heaps of fun!
Just thought I would share it with you guys since it's proved such a blast in WTE. TAG games change too. aircraft flown change the nature of the game, we had one game with a 44/45 era plane set and after a while the 262's got in on the act and the TAG game became very challenging with the only way to get a good pilot was for those who were not it to work as a team.
All in all a fun and valuable exercise. Like air racing which teaches CEM and Low level flying this teaches lots of things while being very entertaining.
Cheers

The fighter pilot's emotions are those of a duellist - cool, precise, impersonal. He is priviledged to kill well. For if one must kill or be killed, as now one must, it should, I feel, be done with dignity. Death should be given the setting it deserves; it should never be a pettiness; and for the fighter pilot it never can be.

A quick update:
12 Sqn is coming up to strength but we are still seeking pilots and gunners.
Newcomers especially welcome as we have in-house training for all stages using 'real life' methods plus cross squadron training with the Fighter Sqns and Strike Sqns within our own Wing.
D/R & M/R Navigation training is now also being introduced.
All welcome to look us over and join up if you are in the Australasian area - the best way to get the most out of FB and an easy entry tow VEF and Scorched Earth.

Quick update to let y'all know 2TW is just getting better and better.
The fighter jocks are into some real heavy buddy training which looks awesome in the training notes. Plus the Heavy Bomber and Strike guys are really working well together on co-ordinated attacks.
Anyone in Australasia want some new mates, a lot of fun and some great training - then bang on our cage. We need more bomber jocks especially at the moment!

S! Sportsfans.
Some important news for all in the Australasian Region who are thinking about on-line, training and new mates.
2nd Talon Wing is now actively planning growth into a Group of two Wings with three Squadrons each.
In the middle will be a formal Central Flying School basic and OCTU facility for all levels of training for both the Wings and their Squadrons.
There has never been a better opportunity to get in with other new people who are at a similar level to yourself.
Also we are very interested in pilots who can settle down with us and start taking the new Command positions which will open. Have you thought about command or Exec on a Squadron but with the benefit of an existing structure and web site to give you all the support you need?

I have yet to make one of the evenings myself but I understand they are a very pleasant bunch of lasses!
If this is not what you are referring to then if you could offer your credentials then our Liason Officer will be promptly in touch with you.
