OK I have played a good 175 hours of IL-2 now. Great game, probably the best WWII Sim out there.

Here is my problem. Every time I start to get close to getting the game set up the way I like, the game magically becomes impossible to start. Once I get everything I like installed, like the 4.10.1 patch, Vampires, Liberty Jug, DCG and maybe Cachya with Tri4fun to give me 2-dof, the game stops working.

I try and launch it, it opens on my task bar for a few seconds then dies. If I don't have the config files resolution set to my computers native, it will change my resolution, then die.

I found it leaves a log file in the IL-2 folder. But I have been unable to deduce what it's trying to tell me. Maybe that one of my system files is corrupted, but I don't know.

I found that deleting everything in the IL-2 directory and having Steam download the game again fixes the problem (if you can call that a fix). After it happened a few times I decided to use steam to make a backup copy of the default downloaded version, so I wouldn't need to download from the internet every time the game dies.

Well, it happened, so I restored the steam backup I created, same one I backed up right after it finished downloading. Whatever the steam default is, that's what I reinstalled.

Well that didn't do it! It's still just as broken as it was before. After resorting it, still doesn't work! So now I'm wondering if my computer has a virus or if this game has some issue with Win7 or what?

My Specs:
*EVGA Nvida 790iFTW SLI mobo.
*3 x Nvidia 9800gtx+ g-cards.
*3 hard drives (IL2 and steam are installed on D, OS is on C).
*4gb ddr3.
*q9550 quad core 2.8ghz.

Windows 7 x 64 bit.

Can anyone help me, I'm at my witts end! I even reinstalled my OS last night but because I just did an upgrade not much really changed.

I really don't want to reinstall a blank OS again, if this is just a problem with IL-2 I would rather fix that.

Hmm. Well, firstly, we cannot offer support for modded installs here, you will need to seek support for mods where you got the mods from. I will say that 1946 has issues with windows 7 if it's installed in either of the Program Files directories, so you may want to see if you can move your Steam folder to something like D:\Games. Does the game work once patched to 4.10.1 before mods are added? If it's not working before mods are installed then post your conf.ini here and we'll see if we can at least get 4.10.1 working.
