Hi there
Just been creating missions again and its been awhile but I have slight problem with Flak.
I have this simple mission where Ju88 are bombing AT guns and there are 85mm AA guns near them.
But the thing is they wont shoot. The enemy planes intercept them just before they start bombing but the AA guns wont do nothing. Now if I set a group of bomber arriving to the target before there is any other planes (friendly or hostile) the Flak shoots away normally.
This is really weird. I have tryed atleast 10 to move the AA around but no , they just wont shoot if there is combat even near the bombers /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
Anybody got a clue whats with this? .. I just want nice eye candy to the bombers when they run their bombing run /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Actually, I must try this out....AA firing into air combat. Mayby they made it so AA don't fire near friendly.

Yes after countless tryes I came to this conclusion aswell. But I still think there should be some flak since time to time the bombers are flying all alone and fighters about 1km away from them but flak doesnt do anything ..

Same thing here
I got a weird problem with Flak, in a FMB i have just made for my new movie, 53 B17 must fly over a heavily infested flak bombing run. Everything works great until a german plane catches the formation, as soon as the fighters get near the bombers the flak below stops firing. This is quite annoying, i know that german fighters stopped their attacks when flak started and only resumed them afterwards to finish off whatever left of the bombers. Is there a special setting in the config file to allow flak to fire even if friendly planes are over them at 27000 ft.
I have just installed AEP so maybe it has something to do with it ? My suggestion is make the attacking fighters to brake their attack as the bomber formation is arriving over flak territory altough this is hard to do as some fighters are quite stubborn, another thing that i have made is to increase the bombers speed, wich makes them harder to catch after the fighters make their initial pass.

I just set up a quick test mission to check this out. Two B-17's passing over 3 88mm flak guns at 5000m. Of course, the flak guns fired at the bombers until they were out of range.
Then I placed a Bf-109 about 2km behind the bombers, at the same altitude. It caught up to the bombers right over the flak guns. The 109 attacked one bomber and got it to flame. All this time, the flak never stopped firing. It was all around the three planes.
So, I don't know about your mission(s), but the flak did not stop firing in mine. If you would like to post your mission, maybe we can look into it further.

This is really strange as it has been reported by others. How can i send the mission to you, an e-mail address or maybe thru msn, please let me know.
I don't know if it makes any differences but my FMB mission contemplates over 300 88mm and 53 B-17 flying in formation over them...just to add some work for my poor cpu...they're attacked by 45 German planes (bf110,fw190 and bf109g2). This mission is intended to become my next movie, so i would prefer not to post it yet, try making a FMB with that amount of flak at least. I tested 4 or 5 different speed for the bombers so the german planes couldn't make a second attack while over the flak. In some cases even a damaged german planes 10000 feet below the bombers, prevented the flak from firing.
Anyway..thanks for answering and let me know if you achieve the same...i'm working with AEP installed.

Do the AA guns fire at all (When there are no friendlies around)? Cause maybe the problem is that you have selected the AAA from the "Stationary Objects" menu. Objects from this menu will not shoot or move or anything, no matter what. Make sure that you have selected the 85mm (And all other AAA for that matter) from the "Artillery" Menu. The they will shoot.

HI everyone
As i said before this mission is intended to become my next movie...so i'm reserving it as a surprise for the moment. Altough i made a test and delete every object other than the b-17 and the 88mm flak (selected from artillery menu), deleting ALL the german planes....well of the 53 B-17 only 20 made it to home base so flak really works.
I made another small mission with less bombers and just one german plane and the flak continued to fire even when i was attacking the bombers,... so i don't know what's happening.

I've made some tweaking and now the german fighter can make only one pass on the bombers and they can't catch them before arriving into flak zone...so the flak makes its work beautifully.
