People should appreciate your warning.
I read about this too, But it's only 30 consoles throughout the whole world who were affected by this.

You can get your power cord replaced free of charge at this link:

Eh? A friend told me that it was 45 of every 100 Xboxs that were affected in some way. Well maybe he was mistaken. It sounds kind of hard to believe...

I just got my Xbox in July, so it's all good (tried at the site for the cord and they said my xbox is unaffected.)

I already ordered my new cord. Not that I am worried. I am actually more curious to see how much advertizing infromation they include with the cord.

I looked in a little FAQ like thing and it said that only Xboxes that were manufactured BEFORE Oct. 23 (I think), 2003 need it. If you bought it AFTER Oct. 03, then you don't need it, as the upgrades to the cord were implemented by then. So fortunatly I'm safe (got it Christmas 03).

<e con> "my serial no. scratched off my xbox. but i have a warranty, so i can get a new xbox anytime."

The warranties are tracked and covered by the serial number on your xbox... If the companies, like ebgames, gamespot, cannot read the serial number to verify that your current xbox is the xbox covered on the warranty, they will not cover it.. So i wouldn't sit so happily thinking your ok.. In all reality if anything goes wrong, your up the creek if you know what i mean.

Yeah, but what if your or my Xbox is that 1 out of 10,000. That would be pretty un-cool, imagine sitting there, nice and easy, playing through the campaign in SC:CT and then suddenly your Xbox bursts into flames. Not cool...

It's better to be on the safe side!

Your warrent means nothing if you don't have that number, when I got my Xbox modded to play all region dvd's (which is legal in my country) I made sure that the guy who modded it, didn't ruin the sticker on the back of the Xbox, because I know how important that is.
