The latest update to Revelator, my free media extractor for Myst IV, is now available.
Revelator extracts sounds, movies, pictures, and subtitles from the data files of Myst IV: Revelation, and it can also extract the player's in-game snapshots and journal entries from saved game files. Version 7.0 is a major update.
Unlike past versions, it's now easy to find the sound file corresponding to each movie (they are all silent), and to find the subtitle file for each piece of dialogue. The extracted sounds, movies, and subtitles now have the same name if they are related, and those names are the ones assigned by Team Revelation at Ubisoft Montreal. (My thanks to realXCV for his generous help on this!)
The new Revelator also extracts many more textures from the game and improves the journals extracted from saved games. A few sound effects that were incorrectly extracted by previous versions are now handled properly.
The new version of Revelator can be downloaded from here (http://homepage.mac.com/rshayter/Revelator.html).
There is also a new version of Riveal, which extracts files from other games in the Myst series. Riveal 9.0 can be downloaded from here (http://homepage.mac.com/rshayter/Riveal.html).
