I know that ubi has made the environment as real as possible, they have even included common african animals like gazelle water buffalo, etc. But what im wondering is why there won be any lions, panthers, or other dangerous animals. Could you imagine how intense the game would feel all the time? Knowing that as soon as u escaped the enemies by river, a crocodile could be waiting for you. Or in the jungle, when a panther could be hiding in the shadows, even in the savanha, a lion would only require u to b more alertful and careful, it would give you that real idea of survival of the fittest. There would be no such thing as a "simple walk across that uninhabited valley". Im not asking for a spammed WOW kinda thing with deadly predators everywhere. Just a few would keep you on your toes. And i already know why they decided to not have carnivores (i watched the video). But they could have a setup where the animals dont attack you unless u provoke them or their territory. If you get attacked by one, after its initial attack it could just scurry away. BUT if none of this is possible thats ok, they could howver at least make the herbivores a little dangerous though, imagine a herd of 50 2ton buffalo stampeding towards you, i mean really, who wouldnt want this?

At the gamespot e3 stage demo they were talking about it and they said no dangerous animals because "we didnt include any predators because if a lion jumps out of the bushes at you your just.....dead."

They could make it so its not instantly dead... like for the ps3 when it gets on u u cud shake ur controller to get it off, or for 360 u could do a number of button orders to get it off, kinda like Cod3 (even tho the game was kinda bad) where u press buttons in certain orders to do stuff. and for PC you can have something like that too. If you are worried about being instantly killed then tehey could just make it so like it takes out a bar or 2 then it gets off andruns away or something, because thats what real predators do when defending their turf. They establish their terretory then allow most people to get out. I just think it would make the environment more than just a wind fire rain environment, it would make it a breathing living dangerous environment, the humans are just in the middle of it.

Yeah, or they could copy COD4 and have the predator tackle you to the ground and about to take a chunk out of your neck, then have you repeadtly press a button to kill the animal by breaking its neck or pulling out your sidearm or something.

i dont buy UBI's excuses for not including predators.
as said by icecube - if COD4 could do an instant kill dogs and it still handles OK than they could do lions that take 25% of health if they jump u.
and most importantly - if STALKER did tons of different hostile animals (from huge boars, wild dogs, wild cats, psuedo giants and even invisible mutants) and handles them perfectly fine than FC2 could as well. so what if that means the AI will have to fight them? let them fight. again - hostile animals work well in stalker. it is fun to fight against a human AI only to be abrupt by a hostile animal and then for a few seconds both of us were shooting the giant predator until dead and then go back to shooting eachother. good times.
i think ubisoft just didnt want to put resources into this. that is probably all there's to it.

They didn't want you to just be sitting there, and you get mauled by a lion.

If they did have vicious animals it would defintely make it more real and thats a plus but getting attacked by a panther right after you sucessfuly blew up and killed like 50 people will make me feel bad. If they did put an animals I would either put them in as only parts of side missions where your a hunter or a idea of putting them somewhere were they can be avoided easily and if your just not paying attention to your enviroment your going to get your.......BUTT kicked but not killed like the animal beats you so you cant go any further without getting back to your safehouse or finding a medical kit.I do like the idea of being able to press buttons/shake the control to get it off even though I never did like my ps3's little six axis crap.

it being attacked by a carnivore isnt a matter of black and white, life or death.
it shouldnt necessary mean that u get killed with one attack of the beast.
it can just be a powerful animal that takes about 10 shots to drop (or a couple of head shots) and can kill u with perhaps 3 or 4 attacks.
having the animal roar and moan will give an indication when u r near one so it wouldnt constantly surprise you.
as i said again - if predators work well in STALKER there is no readon why they cant work in FC2.

Loool then just switch off your pc and go visit Zoo regularly .... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif
But, ok predators would be fine but I understand that they have already lots of headache with AI and story-line, so we should forgive them that. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
