Hi all.
For a while now ive had my abit motherboard with built-in 5.1 ac97.
This week my new pc 5.1 surround speakerset will arrive so im kind of hyped to play some games in surround.
Now, ive heard that it would be possible to have the game's sound come through the speakers, and have your voice-com (teamspeak) go through your headset, as long as the headset uses USB. I found this very cool and if its possible ill get myself a small one-ear headpiece for the voice-com.
But thats if it IS possible. So does anyone know and got any pointers to how to get this working?
Thanks in advance!

What you're describing is possible and its the setup I use (a one ear headset/mic boom) which I use for voice communications (TeamSpeak) and voice commands (Shoot version 1.6).
I dont think you'll need any special setup procedues to do voice comms with the usual programs - TeamSpeak / Ventrillo / RogerWilco, etc.
As a bonus you can use the headset for internet telephony.
If you want to check out Shoot for voice commands check here: Shoot 1.6.4 (http://clans.gameclubcentral.com/shoot/)
You can setup a toggle switch for Shoot so it can be off while you're yelling at your wingmen. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

If you use teamspeak then you simply set this up through settings/options in ts.
With the one ear headset (which I am also currently using) I do at times find it hard to hear some of my team mates due to the game sound. Not sure if others experience this but personally I was thinking of going to the full headset. Might be something to consider.

I can hear it with teamspeak but with ventrilo I can't hear anything through the headphones. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Sigh...sorry for ranting but i need to channel my frustration right now.
So, my package containing the 5.1 system and a Saitek X-52 is at the postoffice awaiting me to go get it. I ordered these items thinking I would be getting some money im awaiting but as it turns out, I wont get the money until the end of this month (wrongdoing on their part, not mine). And as I need what cash I have to survive the rest of the month, I have no other choice but to wait...
What makes it so **** frustrating is that it wasnt my fault! Sigh...THis gonna be 2 long weeks.
Anyways, tnx for your replies guys, sound cool with headset and surround. Will definitly set my rig up like that!
