well ... Mine is thanks to hotmail.
years ago, before microsoft bought hotmail, I signed up for an account.
I had used the name "Dillenger" in MUSHes for a few years so I decided to get an email with that.
Lo and Behold ... the name was taken and some alternatives were presented to me.
Dillenger69 was one of them.
My male brain immediatley said "huh-huh 69 heh-heh"
so I took it.
It just kinda stuck with me after that.

My name came from a D&D character i had that was really cool and it stuck with me. My name is pronounced Na-queel, and is not to be mistaken for the popular night time cold remedy.

Mistyri
11-24-2003, 08:53 AM
I was trying to think of a name for a character when I first got into mucks, about a hundred and twelve years ago. (Yes, I'm that old. Seriously. It's like... quadruple dog years, or something. Or quintuple. I'm not doing the math.) Anyhoo, I took a long walk out through the woods near my house, and while I was climbing over the fence onto Freddy's property for a good round of risky trespassing (Freddy has a gun, whee) and it came to me: Mistyri. It's pronounced Mystery, but it's all misspelled and good stuff like that, and I've been Mistyri ever since.

Nobody seems to be able to remember it, though. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

. . . the ending has not yet been written . . .

My 'in game' name is Mr. Lag. I picked it up when describing a Reservior Dog character in Uru Prime beta...like Mr. Pink.
So many times we would see chat posts like, "Oh my God, the laaaaaaaaaaaaag is horrendous right now!" Sometimes I would arrive right when the lag hit, & people would blame me for the lag. There's also Lotta Lagg, another famous Lagster in the City. (Hi Lotta! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)

Just using my name, the j. being the initial of my first name.

If I could, I'd change my callsign to something with more panache, but I can't figure out how.

Is it even possible?

For example, coronagold and the pepsi guy...though i forget his exact name. We are the drinking alliance of forum goers!

Mine has a story behind it, so I hope I don't bore you with it... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

When Diablo II came out, I was thinking of a screen name for it. Well, Soul_of_Darkness came to mind. THen about a year later, I dropped the "arkness" and was Soul_of_D. This past March, I was curious on what Soul meant Latin, so I asked my friend (who carries around a latin book) what it meant. He looks it up, and he says "Anima". So I called myself Anima_of_D for awhile, then just Anima. Now recently (like 2 weeks ago) I decided to look up what Darkness meant in Latin, and it was "Caligo".

Hence my name now... *Sees everyone asleep*

Mine is from a Terry Brooks series called "Sword of Shannara" that I picked since my real name is a common Myst character name.

Well, I am new and this is my frist time posting, but it seems appropriate.

Jamaillia is my user name and I got it from Star Wars: Clone Wars, it is the name of the new Queen. I don't think the spelling is the same, but close enough for me.

Well, my name is Graham and I work at 614.

Graham means "of the home" apparently (and I'm a Cancer/Leo cusp oooh...)

I was also told that there was a theif named Maharg that was trying to elude capture in during the "dark ages" (yeah, the storyteller was rather vague) and in an attempt to dissapear changed his name by reversing it. Hence, Graham.

I thought it was a bunch of B-O-L-L-O-C... ah never mind.

Name name name... Hmm. Ok. Here goes

Years ago I decided on a name to ghost write an article for a new age publication that a friend of mine was doing. I chose D'tairai as that name. I did a historical article on druids... anyway fast forward to IL2. I wanted a name that would strike fear into the hearts of enemy pilots! Duskryn Graves.. yeah I liked the sound of that. For Uru, I wanted to come up with a persona for in character gameplay so I thought.. Hmm. Duskryn D'tairai... yeah, that has a nice ring to it. Then, I D'ni-fied the pronounciation to the spelling as it would be pheonetically in D'ni. "Duskrin D'tahree" So there ya go http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you are going to add forum names I suppose I'll add my explanation for her.

Contessa Wilhemina Schickelgruber ...
The name was borne out of bounds testing the character creation abilities. They used to be pretty much unlimited.
I kept using it ... the avatar creation got better ... then they decided to put the current cap on characters (20 I think).

I wanted to keep the name and a female Avatar so I shortened it to Contessa Wilhelmina. A nice deep red Riven shirt, black everything else, purple hair, and for some reason her first name is now contessa rather than her title being contessa.

so we have

osaurus
11-24-2003, 10:17 PM
osaurus is not an every day name. my first online gaming was with quake3. i joined the "Ping" clan and found i was the oldest living member. so i chose the name pingosaurus. when i left the ping clan, i removed the Ping and was left with osaurus. note: when i'm winning a game it's pronounced o-sore-us, but if i'm losing a game it's pronounced o-sore-***. sad yet true.

my name is from an Everquest Dwarf Paladin. I wanted a name with some faux german sound to it. In German in college I used the word stein on the end of english words when I was stumped for a word.

Speedyserd
11-25-2003, 07:26 AM
Let me see,... I need to remember how I decided on "Speedyserd" since I chose it in 6th grade...
(sits back and thinks...)
Hrm, I think the reason why I used it is because I am quick (I am now a track and field athlete). As for the serd part... well, funny enough, I typed in "serd" into yahoo or google and I found out it's another name for a computer type! Funny, since I am now at college and I so have a "speedy" internet connection... lol!
But originally, "serd" is a part of my name.
But the whole name was originally my aol email address, but now it's just my yahoo email address. Check out my profile if you want to see what it is.

Devokan80....hmmm...it's probably really obvious to most...Devokan is "hope" in D'ni, and 80 is the year i was born. Not that exciting and I was just going to use my real name in the game but in Beta I used Devokan and I wanted people to recognize me so thats what my game name is.

Lol

Jerle that looks well dodgy. Since this is a family forum I'm going hold back on any more comments..

Anyway back to the thread.

In the ninth decade of the 20th century it came to pass that a genius created a comic and called it Viz. Liggers and charlatans tried to copy Viz : they failed. One such publication went by the name of 'Oink'. I bought one copy of Oink and one of the stories had a frame in it, in the background there was a spoof movie poster advertising a spoof movie called "I created Fabadoom, the fish who ate skyscrapers". The rest is history.
