How to change combo weapons?

As default Ezio uses his gun with the weapon you have drawn, how do I change this so I can use thowing knifes together with my chosen weapon?

You can't.

As far as I know the swords as well as longer ranged weapons(not heavy weapons)use the hidden gun and daggers have throwing knives as the secondary weapon.

Yup.

Daggers go with throwing knives.

Medium swords go with pistol.

Heavy swords you can throw.
