Greetings Everyone,

Just like the title says, and I have all the patches installed for 32bit game. I have checked my Windows registry with 3rd party utillity and have cleaned it up of errors. Have defragmented my Games partition where FarCry is installed AND have the latest drivers from all my hardware vendors for XP-64bit.
One thing that I can't get around is when the game asks me install Direct X 9B, I tick the box and then get it to install the game, but get an error message about Direct X 9B.
However, I have Direct X 9C installed, and from what I understand about the Direct X situation, version 9C can play games where 9B and 9A are required.

I click on the FarCry game to get started and the Splash screen loads and then about 1-2 seconds later... nothing.
Another strange thing, when installing the game, it did not ask for the CD-key!

Help !

Oh.. sorry, put this in the wrong part of FarCry forum... can admin move it too maybe General discussion...thanks.

You should not need to install DX9b since Windows XP SP2 has DX9c included in it.

You do not need the CD key to play single player Far Cry, anly for online play.

Try backing off on the overclock and see if you get the problem at stock speeds.

Thanks for the reply fabulouscoops,

I don't have XP with SP2 installed. XP-64 bit does'nt have that kind of thing.
I can play other games perfectly well, modern ones at that, like HL2, Star Wars - Republic Commando, Chronicles of Rid**** - Escape from Butcher Bay and Doom 3 etc...without any problems and the games run super smooth at high resolutions.

Before when I had 32bit XP and SP2 with all MS uptdates etc, I could play Far Cry with a clock speed of nearly 4.2Ghz - no problems at all and like the above mentioned games it ran silky smooth. It seems to be a fussy game with 64bit Intel CPU, XP-64bit operating system and with the 32bit patches...

Do you guys have the 64 bit far cry patch? It has the same number as the 32 bit patch (1.32) but its a 64 bit patch.

Far as I know all windows xp x64 os have service pack 1 on them. I did not do any of the patches and haven't had any trouble playing 64 bit but I can no longer play 32 bit (who would want to) Put in the cd, exit the 32bit screen, double click the AMD 64bit icon no problems.

Hmm...I installed Farcry without any problems on my system. I have not installed any of the 64bit patches for FC though.

AMD64 3200+ w/ Winxp 64 SP1. DX9c included.
