Do you think FC2 will be the same, or more demanding then Crysis? I'm hoping my Duel Core Processor (AMD X2 4800+) and 8800GT 512 MB will max out FC2 with no problems. Thoughts?

Here's a piccy of my system specs, and Crysis runs at about 30-40 fps at 1024/768 with everything on medium...

The GPU is an 8800 GTS 320, which I have overclocked from 500Mhz to 675Mhz. I used that tuning app to increase the fan speed to max to cope with the clock speed

So do you think we will run FC2 alright? I don't think it will be as demanding as Crysis...

Estimated Requirements (farcry2hq.com) (http://www.farcry2-hq.com/requirements.htm). In my opinion if Crysis or any other nextgen game runs on your system, Far Cry 2 will it too.

They look optimistic, or am I being pessimistic?

I wouldnt put too much fait in 'guessed' system requirements. It always has a level of presumption.

I just really hope that my E6600 core 2 duo, geforce 8800GT 512mt and 2gb 800mhz spacs runs this with allmost everything at max....

I'd say you should probably be able to play FC2 well above medium settings but then again this is just a guess.

I'd be very surprised if you couldn't. I know people who are playing Crysis with those specs and running 30-50 fps with ease on very settings and res of 1024+ with no issues dispite what others have said about the game. IMO, FC2 will not suffer the same problems which have targeted Crysis.
Having said that....remember that ALL new releases are not without their issues. Its the nature of the beast.

Im having trouble understanding the logic of some.....
If game A runs at Max on your hardware does that mean if you can only run game b on medium that game A looks better than game b on your system???
I would imagine that You can only get so much performance from a specific computer so whether the game runs at max or medium it doesnt matter what the setting its on its only gonna look the same no matter what.

Forgive me Rizno for I may not be understanding your question but as far as your first question...that would depend on the game A & game B.
Well although its true...ultimately you can only get so much performance from a specific computer....the difference of settings will influence the grapfics (images) you see.

NOOO... Because it has to do with game optimizations, look at UT3 for example, its far superior than Crysis in the graphics yet it yelds the best performance than any newer game!

I agree with that.

That....I'm not so sure. I have not seen UT3 so to disagree would not be appropriate. I would need some proof so I'll download the demo and see for myself. With all the problems Crysis is having especially with MP...graphics isn't one of them.
I have seen what the cryengine2 can achieve and I'll compare it to the UT3 engine......but "FAR SUPERIOR" (your words)...it will really have to be impressive to warrant that praise!!
Btw, COD4 graphics comes closest to Crysis based on what I have seen. Plus it MP is playable....Crysis....not so much.
EDIT:
Ok...admittedly, UT3 graphics are one of the best I have ever seen but "FAR SUPERIOR" not by a longshot IMO. At best, equal to Crysis and that is being generous on my part.

The question of system requirements needed for Far Cry 2 has been put out a couple of times before in this forum but none of the development team have answered this particular question ... important question I might add. I would have thought that by this time with the game scheduled to be released sometime 1rst qtr 2008 they would have a very good if not exact idea of what the requirements will be. I only have a 3.4 P4 (single core), 3GB or RAM, and a 8600GTS and Crysis runs fine on my machine, so if Far Cry 2 requires the same or only slightly higher specs to play then Crysis I should be fine. We can only hope that the developers will release the requirements for the game soon so people that need to upgrade their systems can before the game is released .... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

I'd say in a three month period of time or so a lot of optimalisations can still be achieved. I don't think it is very custom in the gaming industry to release system requirements months ahead of release.

That's true, but we can always hope, can't we?? And who knows if we are all very, very good maybe the developers might give us a juicy tidbit for Christmas http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Yeah i might have overrated UT3 a bit but still i think it has at least a little bit better graphic than crysis.
On another note I think FC2 will be pushed back to a summer 2008 release. I think they have a long way to go and 3 months won't cut it if they want to make a great game!

Why I want a conosle version is because the requirements are going to be so high, I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY TO UPGRADE!!!!

You shouldn't have any problem. Once you get it and waiting for FC2 then in the meantime try the demo of Crysis. If you can play that you can play anything! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I have looked at the link for the amd computer
and it's very good.
but just one thing about it is the mobo i have this mobo it is good dont get me wrong but the problem is the sli speed when a second gpu card is in the mobo drop's seed down from 16x to 8x
and if you look at overclookers web site for the 8800 gtx right at the botom of the page it says will only work on a 16x pci-e so it will not work in sli mode on that mobo. look to see if you can change it to a 16x 16x pci-e mobo.
