Do you have a video card which is on the list of supported ones? Check you packaging or manual for the list.

Problem #4 here. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Sucks. I want to be able to experience the game with settings jacked to the max, but it ALWAYS reverts. I don't even know what settings I'm playing under until I actually start a game, and so far it's never the settings I set. Same for the controls, those revert too, and why doesn't Sam equip his gun when I press fire?!

Like a few others in this thread, I run into problems in the Shanghai mission, right after I record the conversation with the laser mic, I get the following errors when saving the game or when the game autosaves:

I don't know if anyone knows this but how do I tell the game to unlock only certain items and levels? I want to know this because I'm having a problem with the final level not finishing (swat guys wont bust through the roof). This means I can't get to the bonus mission. Also, I HATE the last vision upgrade. (It's blurry, pixelated, glitches my scope so I can only see staic, and doesn't have that awesome green glow.)

I remember someone posting a trick when the game wasn't unlocking the items. It was a long time ago though...

i got nvidia geforce 8400 gs with driver version 8100.... but the problem is the driver of the video card is nt supported by SCDA... the game & pc crashes in a while after starting the game...... the hardware detection of the game shows....tht its only the driver version nt supporting the game

It is highly possible that your video card is not good enough. The "compatability" test only measures if it can perform certain programming and does not see if it can do them well enough to play the game at a decent rate. Your card is not on the list of supported cards, but that is not surprising since it came out after the game did.

However, your card is the bottom of the 8000 series from NVidia and neither of the two lowest of the 7000 series were listed as compatabile with the game. When a game crashes at launch that is usually due to inadequate hardware. DA is a pretty demanding game and much better cards than your struggle with it.

wen instal the game, the only 'x' is on driver version
the game loads well, but when start to play, Sam is like invisible - i cannot make him out, it looks like wine.
i have da v101 driver - the other previous drivers dont wana install
how can i get this fixed up

Go into your game options and turn off HDR - see if that fixes the problem.

Hey, I have windows 7 64bit and can run the single player but not the multi-player. I have already tried running the game in compatibility mode with XP but there was no success on my part. Does this have to do with Star Force's horrible protection stuff? I have the Steam Version of the game, if that makes any difference. If Star Force has made an update to this problem please send a link to a fix for this problem. You can alternatively Email me at XeroSniper@gmail.com. IF there is no fix for this game, am i able to return a steam game?

The main problem with Double Agent I am having is in the game itself - doing the minigames, like hacking etc. Very often all movement controls will be disabled, so I cannot progress. I am currently stuck in Sam's second time in the terrorist HQ after the Shanghai mission because I can't open the safe.

ok, here is my problem,
the problem is when I reach mission 4 in SCDA I pass trough all guards but in the end, when I reach the supertanker's captain in the fuel room, I catch the men with the flare and nothing happens is like catching a normal guard; the flare doesn't explod and the mission doesn't stay complete, so there is no chopper to pick up. I search this bug in the internet but I didn't found ANY MATCHES, what is very strange.

P.S. I tried doing other profiles and re-instaled the game and nothing.

In training Sam's equipment is totally white except for light detection thingy. Thats green/yellow/red depending on light level so thats ok. In mission where u jump from plane and have to open parachute, Sam's suit is entirely white. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I downloaded patch 1.02 for scda but it didn't run. So I downloaded it several times using both from ubi.com and update launcher but it didn't seem to work. When I run it in xp it says (patch name) has encountered an error and needs to close. We are sorry for the....... Please tell microsoft about the problem. I remember running into a host of problems years ago trying to run SCDA. I scoured the forum looking for what others had done to get this game to work. I gathered together everything I found and made up a post that the moderator locked as a sticky. Some of this stuff is old and out of date, but maybe some of you will find some of this information useful.

What are your FULL PC specs ? Are you using Windows 7 OS ? Try these tweaks which I'm giving below. You can try them on Vista OS as well, but if the game still doesn't launch, then something else needs to be done.

First make sure you update and patch the Game fully, before doing anything. Apply both version 1.01 and 1.02 patches. These patches are for the US version of the game only, but if you have a non-US version, then you can run the SC4UpdateLauncher.exe found in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent\support\UpdateLauncher.

Start the game by double-clicking on the SCDA Desktop icon. Do 'not' use the Dvd RUN SPLINTER CELL DOUBLE AGENT menu option.

Are you getting any Runtime ERROR messages when you launch the Game, or any 'MUST check' message ? First make sure that you have fully updated the DirectX 9c runtime files, and all the VC++ redistributable packages from Microsoft's website. These must be updated.

Follow this method:

Locate the game's Launcher i.e. SCDALauncher, and create a shortcut. After that insert the following command at the end of the target line, under the shortcut TAB:

"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent\SCDALauncher.exe" -ll

Also give this a try:

"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent\SCDALauncher.exe" menu.unr -ll

To force the game to use only DX9, you can give the following command:

"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent\SCDALauncher.exe" -DX9


You can also add the above '-ll' switch by inserting it under the Game's executable i.e. splintercell4.exe. Go to 'C:\Program Files <x86>\Ubisoft\Splinter Cell Double Agent\SCDA-Offline\System', and locate splintercell4.exe and create a shortcut of this file, and add the above command.

"C:\Program Files <x86>\Ubisoft\Splinter Cell Double Agent\SCDA-Offline\System\splintercell4.exe" -ll

Also look here under the Compatibility TAB, and check and tick the options 'Disable Desktop Composition', and 'Disable Visual themes'. Now click on this .exe and run the Game.


If you are facing any kind of resolution issues, then you can also manually enter the Resolution values inside the splintercell4.ini config file. This file can be found under the same path i.e. Program Files <x86>\Ubisoft\Splinter Cell Double Agent\SCDA-Offline\System. Just look for the following lines i.e. FullscreenViewportX/FullscreenViewportY, and insert your Desktop's current resolution Mode.....

Do you have a Dual-core CPU from AMD ? Have you installed the Dual core optimizer, if needed ?

Are you playing Single Player or MP ? DX can be installed/updated from here, but if this doesn't include all the libraries, then look for an early version:

As an extra side note, if the above methods do not work, and/or the Game still doesn't launch under Windows 7, then try downloading and applying this fix which I've uploaded. But, first make a BACKUP of both the original executable (.EXE) files.

This should work on all versions of the Game, since it looks like none of the patches (v1.01 & v1.02) have modified the main executable, and the file Checksum (i.e. for SplinterCell4.exe), Imo. MP may or may not work properly.
