Lots of questions on this. First, talk to the old man and get him to help. He will do the stacks on one side and you will do them on the other side. Let's start with activating the mainframe. Move to the stacks on your left. The first one you want is the one which is away from the wall. Even though you get the interaction prompt before that, wait until the space in the middle of the machine glows bright green- then hit your interact. Turn around to face the two on the wall. The next one you want is the one on your left. Again, wait until it glows bright green. You are waiting for the man to activate a stack on his side. Then the last one. If you are successful, your output will come out of a machine in the corner on the other side.
