View Full Version : PS3 Blurriness on Standard Def

Ok, so I set all my PS3's settings to work properly on my standard-def TV (smoothing on, upscaling off, cross-color reduction filter on, etc), and AC1 went from unwelcomely blurry to just right.

With AC2, however, the text is tiny and blurry, and I had to look up half the glyphs online because I literally could not tell what was going on in those pictures at the passcode puzzles. And don't get me started on the mini-map.
I flickered all those settings just to be sure. Nada.

Is there some in-game setting I need to tweak or some obscure PS3 setting that I need to tweak to make it adjust properly? I don't see why the settings that made AC1 look ok don't seem to do anything for AC2.

(And if I get any "yeah, just get an HDTV" responses, I will smack you. Not everyone can afford to go out and plonk down that kind of cash.)

Sorry, the answer is literally buy a HDTV. No tweaking will help; games these days are made for HDTVs.

You can pick one up for cheap, just search for refurbished models online. If you can afford a PS3 and multiple games, you can probably afford a $400 HDTV. Games won't go back to SD so you'll be making a good investment.

Alright, thanks. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I appreciate it.
I just didn't want the sort of answer that was like "LOLZ ha u havz SD u sux get HD http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif ". Yours was explanatory, so I appreciate it.

I know I'll eventually have to get one in the near future, I was just hoping I could tweak things down to playable in the meantime. Oh, well...

Yeah, no problem. I feel your pain, we've all been there. DVDs, games, and cable TV (which I don't watch) are all being designed or optimized for HD since its become the standard. Those with last century's technology aren't just getting shafted on graphical quality, they can't even read text or see in-game maps!

Trust me, when you finally get an HDTV you're gonna be a happy man. Get yourself an HDMI cable too (like a Mediabridge Ultra Series HDMI cable; goes for $10 on Amazon and is better than any $50~100 cable in a store) and you'll melt in your seat.

Tell me about it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif I find myself 2 feet infront of the TV sometimes.

the HDMI cables are all pretty much the same anyway, the over priced cables are a joke.

as for getting a HDTV even the 32inch screens are available fairly cheap now, more so now places seem desperate to make sales due to the situation with sales and such at the moment.
