Lets compile a list of things that we want to see in RB6P. This list could serve as basis for developers to see what we want so they can get the whole "open communication" thing started early like they said they want to. I'll try to update this list to keep a running list as well as designate which requests seem the most popular. Have at it! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

UPDATE: PUT DAVID SEARS AND THE OTHER GUYS BACK IN THEIR POSITIONS OR AT LEAST EXPLAIN WHY THE OBVIOUSLY MOST TALENTED, MOTIVATED PEOPLE WERE REASSIGNED!

Community Requests
GENERAL REQUESTS
-more than one weapon attachment if applicable
-no forced around cover camera like RB6V(2)
-complex squad commands
-make this a TACTICAL game (this isn't COD or MOH it's RB6, don't forget that)
-the planning stage (pre-mission)
-intelligent AI (did good on SCC so keep at it)
-cinematic camera effects while moving (look at games like Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising and Red River)
-gunsmith?
-voice commands (like Endwar)
-control of multiple squads
-Map editor/creator
-Mod support/SDK
-lean and prone abilities
-Hardcore mode without health regeneration, third person cover view, health regeneration, respawns, grenade indicators, aim assist, “Instinct Icons”, Room Scanners (without some type of countermeasure), or any other unrealistic crutches being forced on us.
-Footprints in snow/sand/mud or when walking over wet areas that eventually disappear
-Post launch support
-Increased variety in map architecture
-No dual primaries
-A bit of stealth (not like sneaking around but having that tactical feeling ie: using suppressors to take guys out, trying to not go loud and proud, remember in the novel the Support guy only used his MG once in the whole book! Remember that, suppressed weapons should be your babies!)
-Terrorist Hunt (but preferably without the "trigger" spawn of V/V2, spawn all enemies from the start)

SINGLE PLAYER REQUESTS
-deep and rewarding morality system that encourages multiple playthroughs with multiple outcomes
-design that doesn't seem to make it that people will pick a certain path (in the target footage, let go of dead man switch immediately outside van and blow em all to hell, that should be a possibility, the more of these HOLY CRAP I CAN DO WHAT?!?! areas in the game the better it will be, this leads to what's stated above)

MULTIPLAYER REQUESTS
-split screen support
-co-op campaign (split screen and online, allow for co-op to take place across multiple squads that we would normally command, don't have to be in same squad breaching the same room, side by side with your buddy/help from a distance)
-Stand alone dedicated serves w/customizable settings
-server side ability to restrict multiple options
-Matching team uniforms (w/out team indicator present as well)
-Team objectives (hostage, pilot/VIP, bomb modes w/side switching after round)
-No weapon unlocks as new and old players should be evenly balanced, only skill matters not your weapon)
-Remove grenade indicator

I would like to remind everyone that voice commands are nothing new to the Rainbow Six franchise. R63 and BA have them. I'm not sure about Lockdown since I never bothered playing the single player after trying the MP and seeing how horrible it was.

Also, I would request that they cancel the game and sell off the franchise (minus the Clancy name) to a developer/publisher that would actually care about fans more than money if they plan on trying to copy CoD/BF/Halo.

1) Map Editor/Creator
2) Mod support/SDK
3) Lean
4) Prone (demo video had prone at least!)
5) Stand Alone Dedicated servers with most settings able to be customized
6) Hardcore mode (No Health Regen!)
7) Server side ability to turn off 3rd person cover view (leaving off 3rd person completely would be best!)
8) Matching team uniforms (coins over heads is not realistic!)
9) Doors (prefereably, fluid opening doors like Ravenshield had with the mouse wheel)
10) Footprints in snow or after walking over wet areas that disapear over time (like Ravenshield)
11) Team Objectives (typical hostage, pilot/VIP, bomb modes would be great and with side switchnig after round)
12) Fire Select (single/triple/full auto) on realistic weapons
13) Support for more than a few months after release (The third Vegas 2 High Stakes patch only working for one round and NEVER being fixed is unforgiveable!!!)
14) Playable PC DEMO before release (mandatory after last horrible R6 games)
15) No Weapon Unlocks! (New and old players should be on even playfield - only real skill should matter)

Done, but I left off fire select because that's already in the game and will be in RB6P as well. Would both of you mind checking out this as well. (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1991064316/m/4821052269) Thanks a bunch! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

@Pest_AWC

I like that whole list except the map editor. I don't think it is believable to think that a tactical FPS like Rainbow six can have a map editor simiar to Halo or Far Cry. Both those games were built on a engine that could allow such editors and something like would maybe sacrifice other features for R6P.

You could have a scenario editor though.

Basically the placing of bots, spawns and objectives on MP/SP maps for co-op/adversarial games. Throw in some basic weapon restrictions/placements and some simple adjustable rules I think this would go down a storm.

A map editor is possible since the developers must use some tool to create maps for UBI's Anvil engine.

It would mean they may have to make the tool more user friendly and therefore they aren't likely to spend money or time doing that since it really is only a benefit for PC gamers (and they hate PC gamers). I suppose they could bundle and release the best user created maps for consoles as part of DLC.

They have not yet had a map editor released for Anvil games, so it would be the first. Perhaps the engine is to crude to allow this.

It's a shame if they don't have a map editor released since UBI's track record is to give us only a dozen multiplayer maps and then release DLC that just opens up a couple single player maps for multiplayer or changes lighting effects and spawns on an existing map.

Ravenshield and Rogue Spear had strong community support for years due to map editors and 100s of great user created maps.

The least they could do is allow mod support so we could move around spawn locations and objective locations on maps.

In regards to Multiplayer:

Remove the grenade indicator
Simply put, the addition to of the indicator takes away from the game more than it adds. Part of playing a game, and the reason I buy them, is to play inside of the virtual environment. That involves spatial awareness, sounds, and the general game dynamics. Let the me, the user, employ these when I play the game as opposed to holding my hand and telling me. It feels as though the game is playing me.
To sum it up, let the player play. It's part of the learning curve.

Increased Variety in Map Architecture:
There are some excellent maps in the vegas series and a lot can be taken from them. Certain maps like cqb, three kingdoms, and convention centre played really well with a horizontal spread. Streets, played excellently from top to bottom. Killhouse, library, and lvu required a push forward type of strategy.

The only problem was the difficulty to incorporate them all into the same game. Perhaps the inclusion of sprint required wider maps so users wouldn't be travelling to the other team's spawn in 10 seconds. Either way, the map design allows players to play their own style, and the more variety in the designs the greater incorporation of different user play styles.

I know for a FACT that Ubisoft is too stubborn to include the lean feature we know and love, and so I request them to balance out the third person cover system, this time around.

Though i didn't mind Mike and Jung (or was it Yung? I can never remember) I would like to see a wider choice of team members. I would also like to be able to customize their loadouts. Of course Ubi has hinted at this already. At least, I think they have.

Also, that one picture of the blond sniper freakishly looks like my sisters ex who was a ****** bag. So please tell me thats not the main characters look, or at least let us change his face.

Dieinthedark,

Please move the "Hardcore mode without health regeneration" from GENERAL REQUESTS down to MULTIPLAYER REQUESTS but expand it to:

-Hardcore Mode without 3rd person cover view, health regen, respawns, grenade indicators, aim assist, “Instinct Icons”, Room Scanners (without some type of countermeasure), or any other unrealistic crutches being forced on us.

I am worried how many other unrealistic cheats they will add that we don't even know about yet.

Thank you!

Great list and i certanly agree with most of them. I want to add some stuf that i like to have in the SP. To make the SP more immersive i would like to see a Vegas-like (yes Vegas had some good things too) helicopter sequence (drop) and a more open (sandbox) stucture missions to get to the extraction point. Sorry for my bad english... Something like Farcry 2 in a steath outfit and a silenced mp5 was a great stealh experience!!!

How about this, I'll add the things you mentioned but I still want to keep it for general. Why? Because I want these options to not just apply to MP, I want them in SP as well. I'm all for a ridiculous challenge-one shot kills, teammates that don't respawn, no mission over screens for loosing a teammate, no ammo count, no HUD (@ ALL) etc... so I'll add what you requested but I'm keeping under General. Fair enough? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Well....the general request pretty much sumed up everything im expecting from such a well experinced dev team, and im sure I wont be disapointed come 2013. But one thing that hassent been talked about as much is the sound design, which was done GREAT in RSV2. The main thing that made that sound system so great is the weapons balistics. your bullets peirced through glass, boxes, wood or human flesh, and the second THAT bullet made contact with the serface; you would get a sound response; and it was always a **** convencing one. this should be carried over into R6:P. when you shoot an tango in the face, you should not only have a realistic effect on how that would look.....depending on the caliber of the bullet, but also how it sounds.....THAT is the key to really getting into peoples emotions, this explicit level of detail should be applied to your team members also. When unscathed have your fireteam comunicating with the player as much as they can, the more communication you have with your (AI) team, the better. as your team gets deeper and deeper into combat, have them start showing signs of it, such as a limp, blood on their BDUs, the sounds of aggonizing pain, anything to put presure on the player.

I have high expectations for this game, and im sure I wont be disapointed. Be sure to keep YOUR FANBASE INFORMED. we wont disapoint you as long as you dont disapoint us. now days tactical shooters come a dime a dozen....hell im still playing R6V2!

hi there like only 2 main things i would like for to work and thats that they make shotgun not be able to shoot from one side of the map to the other so make them more realistic and also that when u use the silencer that it works better because right now when u use it most of the time it does nothing when there is more the one guy around i can get it sort of when there looking that they know ur there but not right where u are, but when there not looking it should leave them not know ur there at all oh and um i remembered that there is 3 things and number 3 is that they dont alway know right where u are all the time just round about where when u make nose

Unlocks of weapons is NOT good. All it does is give more experienced players even more to kill the less experienced players with and cause some to quit playing. No matter how much the devs claim an unlocked weapon isn't better than a starter weapon, that is almost never true and even if it were, the unlocked weapon is probably better under certain situations otherwise nobody would care to unlock it.

The ONLY acceptable things to unlock would be visual things that do not affect gameplay at all. Things like ranks and perhaps shoulder patches or certain minor uniform modifications that do not affect stats would be ok. Keep player team camo colors identical to their team mates though. We don't need non-matching gangs of mercenaries, we need real teams that have a similar color/camo pattern look without needing coins magically floating over player's heads to tell them apart.

You know I actually didn't mind the mismatching of uniforms in the previous Rainbow Six games mostly because you actually had to think about who and what you were shooting at (especially if friendly fire was on, hoooooboy, fun times) and it encourages communication between players as well as individuality. If you want matching uniforms, get your buddies together, form a team and agree on the cameo you're going to use. Granted, the magical coin was a bit annoying and aiming over someone to have that green X come up or even have your person raise their gun (Holding it barrel up and close to the body) would be enough to indicate friendlies. People who complain about how "unrealistic" it is to have indicators such as coins floating over heads or names or anything like that. You have literally no ground to stand on as the ground you're *****ing about is virtual. It's a video game. Shooting other people and then having them come back to life somewhere else in the map which has no exits and is a little arena setting is about as unrealistic as it gets. You're complaining about the very foundation that allows you to do these sorts of things. If you want to be able to shoot people with matching uniforms to indicate your buddies, no magical tokens and no health regen: Go join The Army. I promise, you will get no respawns, no health regen and matching uniforms with your pals.

Unlockable weapons are a pain in the backside no matter how you look at them. On the one side you have to unlock higher tier weapons which puts more experienced players at a seniority advantage over new players with superior weaponry. You also have a goal, a reason to keep playing the game. To unlock that next awesome gun that looks so cool. On the other hand, everyone has every weapon unlocked and everyone can use everything to start... what's the point of playing? You lack any discernible goal other than to get the next pretty outfit which doesn't affect your gameplay at all.

I'd also like to nullify any arguments people would like to give about unlockable weapons being unfair with the following: I am a long time veteran of Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2 where unlocking weapons was a massive pain either way. What did I do? I learned how to use one of the starter rifles (G36C specifically which is arguably one of the worst rifles in the game) and back when I was playing R6V1/2, I made MvP lots because I developed the ability to use it better than any of the later unlocks. So anyone who says that better equipment trumps skill can eat it. Eat what you ask? I dunno.

I'd also like to point out: The people that quit games because the more experienced players are killing them over and over again with guns they don't have are usually the twelve year olds or the dipsticks who don't have the time or patience to learn the curve of the game and don't belong in a tactical shooter to begin with. I liked Vegas 2's three category unlockable system (Where the more of one sort of combat you did, the weapons you got for it were more specialized) and I hope they expand on that to make it more in depth rather than just three categories.

Some thing I would like to see is the ability to play a female character for both the story and multiplayer, preferably with the two crossing over because I loved R6V2's storyline where I was playing my character; Bishop, who could be male or female and then playing online as the same character. Made me feel like I was actually involved with the story as much as I was with the multiplayer. The reason I say female character specifically is because I'm a girl gamer (inb4therearenogirlsontheinternet&picsoritdidnthappen) and it's refreshing to see tactical shooters like Rainbow Six to cater to a minority like myself.

Gameplay changes I would like to see are line of sight going both ways (ie: Players who hugged a wall around a corner and were able to shoot "through" the wall because their crosshair made it over the edge but they physically didn't) and a bit of a smoother cover system akin to that of Gears of War or Mass Effect so my game didn't pause in the middle of a firefight to consider whether I wanted to take cover in one spot versus the other. Also more fluid grenade throwing, the issue I had with tossing grenades from cover in R6V2 is the person that was doing the tossing didn't seem to act like they were being shot at, at all. Their pace was more suited to someone taking a stroll through the park, riding their bicycle or maybe deciding whether they wanted a latte or a mocha from Starschmuck's. I dunno about you but were I getting shot at, pulling the pin on a grenade and hucking it over the cover I'm making myself as small as I can behind, I would be "Oh**** oh**** oh****, *Quickly tosses over cover after taking only a second to look at where I'm throwing*" So really it boils down to combat being more fluid and less predictably clunky, it should be a surprise when I duck out from cover to shoot or throw a grenade at someone.

I'm just gonna go ahead and respond to some of the stuff I've seen in here because I find it hilarious/ridiculous.

Also, I would request that they cancel the game and sell off the franchise (minus the Clancy name) to a developer/publisher that would actually care about fans more than money if they plan on trying to copy CoD/BF/Halo.
Keep in mind that the reason people keep making clones of CoD/HALO/BF is because the three companies that make these games has found something that works and it's on us as the gaming community to tell the game devs that we don't want that, we want something else. These people have found a formula that works and sells games (not saying it's right) and they are in business to make money. You're delusional if you think Ubisoft is making this game out of the goodness of their hearts.

15) No Weapon Unlocks! (New and old players should be on even playfield - only real skill should matter)
Only real skill does matter, weapon unlocks are just a goal for some or an achievement to others. For me? I find a gun I really like, starter or not, and then I use it to perfection.

I agree with this to a point. I think it should be an optional handicap for those who want to challenge themselves. Having a grenade indicator is great for learning the new maps and for new players, lets them know they're having **** thrown at them that explodes. I would disable grenade indicators voluntarily if given the option but I think others should be allowed that crutch if they want it.

OH YEAH! and make pistols play a bigger role this time around.
The validity of this request is both very solid and very transparent. It would be nice if they implemented some sort of game mode where handguns were the only firearm provided but that's really the only way you can make a sidearm any part of the combat aspect of the game. Realistically speaking, our folks wouldn't even be armed with pistols if we followed a traditional military arming protocol. People who don't have very combat oriented jobs are the ones armed with pistols because there's no sense in having them carrying rifles but soldiers aren't given side arms because that's extra weight they have to carry and there's no point. Side arms play a very little role in actual firefight combat despite what hollywood makes us think. Pistols do make a great "O****" solution if the ammo to your primary is spent and all your explosives used up but that's all they're really there for.

hi there like only 2 main things i would like for to work and thats that they make shotgun not be able to shoot from one side of the map to the other so make them more realistic and also that when u use the silencer that it works better because right now when u use it most of the time it does nothing when there is more the one guy around i can get it sort of when there looking that they know ur there but not right where u are, but when there not looking it should leave them not know ur there at all oh and um i remembered that there is 3 things and number 3 is that they dont alway know right where u are all the time just round about where when u make nose
I don't know which game you were playing but very rarely was I ever killed or even hit from more than twenty feet away in Rainbow Six because I believe that is a shotgun's effective range. I don't know specifically because all I know about shotguns is what I've learned from video games but I'm fairly certain they're capable of ranges beyond ten or twenty feet. As for silencers... please read this (http://www.cracked.com/article_18576_5-ridiculous-gun-myths-everyone-believes-thanks-to-movies.html) article, first one on the list. Silencers don't make a gunshot a silent whisper that nobody nearby can hear. It more or less makes the gunshot less audible to further away folks (ie: a mile away or something like that) so forty bajillion guys don't come down on your head. But if the dude next to you gets shot with a gun that has a silencer, you'd be able to tell he was getting shot and not just falling over of a heart attack.

That all being said I'd like to make a request of the community and not the game devs, though I doubt anyone will listen...

Quit complaining about a game that isn't even out yet!

Seriously guys, this is just ridiculous. Seeing threads and posts and all sorts of stuff about how people are writing off the game because of how terrible the last games were, how it's going to be like CoD or how it's going to suck, blah blah blah. Shut the hell up, we've been given a teaser that reveals very little if anything about the game, for all we know it could have ninja panda bears as squad mates. Shut. Up. Especially those of you who claim you're going to be "boycotting" the game (ie: *****ing about a game and refusing to buy it until they hear about how fun it is and slink off to a store to buy it and OMG it's actually fun and they knew it all along), the lot of you folks complaining about the game that's not even out yet with any gameplay footage need to get your heads out of your own backsides. Thank you very much.

Anyways, that's my feedback on the thread, hope it's not too obnoxious or anything.

Welcome to the forums Villainouse Muse, it is nice to see someone with an opinion that can express it well.

I'll try to address a few of your points that I may not agree with from the standpoint of someone that has played all of the Rainbow Six games from the beginning and is familiar with the Clancy books that games were supposed to be based on. Much of what you said was pretty good though.

If you want matching uniforms, get your buddies together, form a team and agree on the cameo you're going to use.

Wouldn't it be 1000 times easier if the server had the option that every other FPS game has to have a team's uniform colors and camo pattern match? I have never seen a team sport or combat situation where the teams didn't match and I assume there is a reason for that. If you want a different color and camo then save that for Free-For-All match where everyone shoots everyone.

Go join The Army. I promise, you will get no respawns, no health regen and matching uniforms with your pals.

That's a little over the top isn't it? I understand some games are less/more realistic than others. On a scale of 1(unrealistic) to 10 (realistic as a computer sim could be) I would say Halo is around a 3, Call Of Duty is around a 5, Vegas is around a 6(because of working doors), Ravenshield and Rogue Spear were around an 8, and America's Army is around a 10. All I want from future R6 titles is for it to be more around the 8 or at least have a hardcore mode to bring it to that level. I don't want real blood spewing from my arteries. I don't even need realistic bullet drop or sitting an hour on a hill waiting for a shot. Thanks, though.

You also have a goal, a reason to keep playing the game. To unlock that next awesome gun that looks so cool.

Why do you need a goal of unlocking something to keep playing a game? This is a completely new thing to gaming that just makes up for poor programming and lack of good game mechanics. People played games like Ravenshield for years without unlocks (and still are). New games suffer from lack of tools to allow user created maps and mods that keep a game fresh. What non-computer game or sport did you need "unlocks" to keep people playing if it was enjoyable and competetive to start with? None! The thrill of every game/situation turning out differently was more than enough.

Quit complaining about a game that isn't even out yet!

No...we are very lucky this time to know about this game before the code is final. We will take every opportunity to tell the devs what we like and don't like based on the information they have revealed. If you read the threads, you will see they have revealed a bunch. See my thread here:

http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/266145-Rainbow-6-Patriots-Updated-Feature-List-(Multiplayer)-updated-12-1-2011

We don't need another "Vegas 2 Fiasco" where they finally give in and release a hardcore mode in the third patch only to have it fail to work after one round on the PC version...and then NEVER BE FIXED!

We want this game correct on release day. UBI has a horrible track record for fixing games after release, so we won't fall for that again.

-Room clearing should be fluid and have more player involvment then RSV2.
-multiple teams should be able to be controled, and "Go-on-zulu" should be reintroduced.
-weapon sounds should be much more accurate then previous games.
-control over defult player speed in single player
-hostage rescue mode along with terrorest hunt. w. control over ammount of enimies and AI.
-more realistic AI. not super-AI like RSV2.

I don't want real blood spewing from my arteries. I don't even need realistic bullet drop or sitting an hour on a hill waiting for a shot. Thanks, though.

I believe that bullet drop should be in every game that uses human like weapons, even games like Halo (alien weapons would lose its energy & dissipate at a certain range for the sake of balance). You at least won't have to worry about getting hit with a 9mm pistol from 300 miles away. Its not just about being realistic, its common sense.

After playing BF3, I agree with this 100%. All perks will do is make the game totally uneven. The team with all or the most perks unlocked is the team with the advantage. If anything, its more like cheating because you never win fair & square.

Based on what has already been said about the game, I don't think there will be multiple teams available. It seems that you will still only have one squad like in Vegas, this of course can still change as the game is still early in development.

The more I play Vegas 2, the more I realize that the enemies seem to have head-seeking bullets. They can sprint towards me and fire two or three rounds straight into my face. This needs to be remedied, though this could be their way to make realistic "realistic(?)."

They also seem to know where I am immediately if I fire from 50 meters away with a silenced weapon from behind cover. It's a rather impressive ability. I still prefer this over the old Splinter Cell AI that would stand there going "huh? What's going on?" when you miss or go flick a light switch for five minutes after you shoot out a light. If you can't fix the AI without dumbing it down, just leave them super observational with a robotic, infrared and x-ray optic with auto targeting capabilities.

Different type of ammo for shotties would be nice. Bucks, slugs, and bird shot would suffice.

Rifle ****-strokes and/or pistol whips.

If you're gonna have the FN P90, be aware that the ammo was specifically designed to go through body armor. So many game producers don't realize this and I would imagine Tom Clancy would be embarrassed if people thought he didn't know this.

Make frag rounds realistic - at least in single-player / co op. A frag grenade WILL clear one or two rooms in most houses. The ball bearings easily go through walls. Even in the military we're told not to frag and clear unless the walls or made of stone or we having something more than wood to get behind. And hell, on realistic, make the bearings go through walls and kill you, too.

40 MM grenade launchers. Don't just give them HEDP rounds either, but also smoke grenades and those awesome smoke-bangs which create the same thing as a flashbang on impact, followed by thick smoke. No need to stay generic! Also, give the enemy these, too. These will be perfect for room clearing and hostage rescuing. Forget opening a door; fire a smokebang through the window and go in.

Infrared goggles for seeing through clothing for weapons (cotton is transparent to IR). I can excuse not doing this, though as polyester which makes a lot of modern clothing, is not transparent to IR. If Ubi does go this route, though, it's important to note that glass shows up as opaque on IR.

Bipods for machine guns in case you need to hold ground in a fatal funnel.

And please, give the enemy frags and room clearing tactics. It is far too easy to just sit down in a hallway for a fatal funnel and kill terrorist after terrorist in terrorist hunt.
I would like to see the use of vehicles, though I would certainly not be disappointed if there were none.

Most maps aren't even big enough to need bullet drop. For instance, Battlefield 3 has rapid bullet drop before 150 meters. The rate game developers think bullets drop is ridiculous. For instance, the M4A1 will hit right where you're aiming at 300 meters (though there is a slight rise in the bullet trajectory right after it leaves the barrel of the weapon).

I would love to see the return of Retrieval within MP. For some reason it was omiited in Vegas 2 which was annoying as high stakes was introduced, which at least made the game feel a little more like a Rainbow title. I couldn't undertand why a MP mode which had been in the games since Black Arrow was removed? Although I love team survival I also loved the attack and defend gameplay within retrieval, where good team work was required to win a match.

However, I like many others want to have the option to play the game with lean rather than 3rd person cover, no regenerating health and no matchmaking. I know there are many newer players to the series who like these features but why can't Ubi give people the choice? Keep everyone happy, get the sales and online community back.

Give us some proper classic maps like airport, training, garage, cafe etc rather than releasing dlc which gives us darker versions of the same maps!!

For me I've not played a better MP game to this day than Black Arrow!! It kept me and my mates going for years, most FPS games recently only seem to last 6 months or so. I'd be more excited to hear that Ubi were planning a HD remake of Black Arrow rather than what I have read regarding Patriots MP.

Although I'm glad to hear a new Rainbow is in the works I fear that they days of classic Rainbow MP gameplay are long behind us....:(

+100

And just to reitterate, PLEASE NO WEAPON UNLOCKS... it just breeds boosters and selfish non-team players that only care about XP & leveling up.

Oh and allow for customizable objective & terrorist hunt co-op maps for players that do not want to play the lag infested player vs player matches. Players like me! :o. A great co-op option allows for extra legs in the product, long after the pvp has died out!

DIEINTHEDARK,

1ST, THANKS FOR STARTING THIS THREAD AND GETTING UBI'S ATTENTION. LOTS OF GREAT SUGGESTIONS AND I NOTICED YOU HAD "GUNSMITH" LISTED WITH THE QUESTION MARK NEXT TO IT IN YOUR FIRST POST.

After seeing this feature in the GRFS beta I'm all for it in Rainbow! To add specific details, they should expand it even more with more weapons, tools, and equipment. I would also like to see them add (x)amount of save slots so that we can save our configurations as defaults and quickly load them rather than switch several individual components.

I also support hardcore mode, dedicated hosts with restriction options.

I would rather NOT have weapon unlocks and along with that want to see a very extensive selection. I would suggest specifically all the Vegas series weapons paired with the weapons from GRFS as a nice start and others added in DLC. A few suggestions off the top.... AR18, HK 417, UZI 9mm, MP5

I would like Character creation kept as extensive as possible. No camo/ gear restrictions and weapons not limited to any particular character class. Total freedom and plenty of variety for online customization. As someone else mentioned the extensive and non team specific camo makes for a heightened level of awareness in firefights especially when team kills are a factor. This creative freedom will also aid to the life of the game and online experience. More camo, more gear, more weapons, more customization, more options...... Less boring. All that equals more value.

I would like to see some of the Vegas maps get updated and be used. Streets, kill house, casino were great and the layouts made for some of the best firefights I have yet to see outdone from any other shooter!

Lastly, I would like this game to play and feel like rainbow, plain and simple. Not cod, not halo, not even GRFS... New and improved yes but still classic rainbow!

Rainbow Six was the shooter that got me hooked on playing on the console. From intelligent team mechanics with both terrorist hunt co-op play and the sheer fun of multiplayer. The character customization was friggin awesome also. Hope there are tons more cool outfits that both offer male and female customization skins not just gun customization. Also hope there are more features to
smart leveling with unlocks that often identify a sense of accomplishment so leveling ranks its ok to be sloooooow. Maybe introduce us to how SWAT or other special branches like the SWATtactics operate and show that in game during terrorist hunt missions? Also maybe small icon of flags where players are connecting from in the game? Anyways thanks for listening to my dumb ideas probably wasted mins. of your time haha.

Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 is a masterpiece in my opinion. I realize that some of what makes it great was included accidentally on purpose. I don't want to ramble like some bitter basement dweller (I read the whole thread). I'm really surprised at a lot of the comments or maybe baffled is more accurate. This what I believe made R6V2 great.

1) The ability to sprint sideways. Once a player became proficient at the controls you could literally do "the matrix" in front of a machine gun dodging left and right. AMAZING!!!
2) The host controls / hosting system. By putting the power in the hands of the players overpowered weapons and exploitable equipment were banned, Let the community balance and fix the game for you. Having player hosts also forced players to use headsets, use teamwork and it really made R6V2 a game community.
3) Team Leader is one of the best game modes ever conceived it's fun and tactical.
4) Bullet accuracy and damage.

People in past threads have whined about difficulty and damage. A friend of mine says that games are being designed more and more for the lowest common denominator.
Training wheels are being put on the guns. Auto aim/ Soft lock/ ect. UAV's and radar have become rampant. Please don't make a game for bad players, please do not dumb it down,
please make a real tactical shooter. After much disappoint with other recent tactical games it saddens me to say that I won't let myself get excited for the release of R6P. I'll buy it day one I know but my faith in game companies is shaken. If you're working on the game good luck and please make something wonderful.

People in past threads have whined about difficulty and damage.

While I agree with the vast majority of your post, this I draw a certain disagreement with. In Vegas 2, the enemy was absolutely notorious (especially in realistic mode) for knowing exactly where you are when you shot with a suppressor, then sprinting toward you from across the map and while sprinting, getting a perfect head shot. While I'm fine with head shot's being instakill (since even if you have an Army of Two mask on, it'll still likely break your neck, or at the very least incapacitate you), there is no way in ****ing hell someone is going to be moving toward you (or for cover) and nail you with a head shot at 100 yards.

But while we're one the subject of realistic game mode, I know from experience that being under enormous stress, like, say, taking fire, dramatically affects your aim. On realistic mode, when bullets are flying in your general direction, I have no issue with drastically lowered accuracy. Perhaps, if Ubi allows the team to make this game more realistic than other FPS, they could implement it. But if , they want to also draw the fans they could have a mode called "Call of Battlefield" or something that provides aim assist, regenerative health, a ton of grenades, etc. etc. And, hell, even make that mode available online if people want to play CoD on it the servers. That will guarantee Ubi attracts a bigger crowd, those players will get mercilessly slaughtered playing R6 modes, and shouldn't be a general problem.

No mods & no prone. You ******s this is r6 dont make it some cod crap.
Thank you

This, I disagree with. Prone is a great position to get down in. I, however, don't have any problem with your weapon being unusable when you drop, and you having to take two or three seconds to set up; longer if you have to set up a bipod. Prone will be useful if you have your team set up to guard a hallway with a machine gun; set him up on a bipod, get his head pointed down the sights and let him sit and massacre the first poor fool to run through there. Same with setting up in front of a door.

Also, while I agree with peoples' feelings on not making weapons unlockable, in order to attract more players there should be some unlockables. Of course, the most common are ranks, but perhaps titles to be displayed with your name, camouflage, clothing, chrome and gold plated guns, character features, etc. etc. And something similar to RSV2's level up system involving CQB, Marksman and assault (I believe they were), make certain challenges to unlock different titles, camo or weapon platings. This would still encourage trying to level up and all that jazz.

Please for the love of god DO NOT fall into the same trap as every other game and try to steal CODs fan base. A lot of people don't like COD, myself included.

I DO NOT WISH TO SEE:
- L1 Aim.
- Inaccurate hip fire.
- A cut scene style knife/mele. (Swing of a knife that can be out of range like Battlefield and SOCOM if the feature is even present)
- Respawn in ranked mode.

I DO WANT TO SEE:
- Old maps including those in Vegas. Vegas maps were the highlight of the game. Specifically: Calypso, Streets, Death House, Theatre, Villa and the construction/housing site.
- Classic Rainbow gameplay.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE DONT COPY CALL OF DUTY. IF THIS GAME HAS KILL STREAKS OR L1 AIM IM GOING TO GO ****ING INSANE.

2- Keep the ability to host your own room, but possibly add a minimum required upload speed
3- Keep the custom camo when you hit a certain rank
4- Keep the hip fire, sprint, grenade indicator
5- Have in scope/red dot shots more realistic and unstable
6- Have limited visibility while taking cover around a wall/box/etc
7- Be able to scavenge equipment
8- NO KILL STREAK REWARDS OR ABILITIES THIS IS NOT COD/MOH/HF

-No canned death animations like in Cod or Battlefield.

The ragdoll in Rainbow Six Vegas 2 was phenomenal. In conjunction with the blood effects, the kills in R6V2 were very satisfying and is the primary purpose I still play it, along with Terrorist Hunt.
I was very excited for Ghost Recon Future Soldier to come out, but when I saw they used the same death animations over and over again, it became very boring to play.
Since you are moving into the next gen, I can only imagine all the awesome things that can be done with physics and death. I hope you implement an animation system similar to Euphoria used in the Rockstar games. Generate Animations on the fly? Anyone? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZou42fquws

Rainbow six has always been a great game, i still play vegas 2, specially the terrorist hunt online, now, i think developers should concentrate not only on how the game plays but also how it looks, and i mean the operators, update the gear, unfortunally today war is not only about bullets, blood and broken bones, i am a us army soldier, a 19d ( cav scout) with 6 years in the service and multiple deplyment to afganistan, and can tell you that is a fashion show all around, and the more special the unit is the better the gear the members wear in combat, for example the is a big difference betwen the equipment the regular army infantry soldier wears, to what a us army ranger from the 75th ranger regiment wears and uses, or the guys from special operations, their issue is completely different, this guys wear the latest plate carriers instead of iba or iotv body armor because of the need to be able to move fast during raids and cqb situations, rainbow six is a cqb game, it has always been, room clearing, hostage situations, that is nothing but m.o.u.t ( military operation in urban terrain ). In vegas 2 the gear was not proper for a game like rainbow six, for example most body armor were bulky looking, something that a special ops guy would never wear, all of this guys wear plate carriers which are lighter and better, like the condor plate carrier currently in use with special operations.
Helmets: What is a pilot helmet doing as a choice head gear for a spcop, come on do some research, operators wear f.a.s.t helmets, mich2000, mich2001, peltor comtacii headsets, that kind of helmets, something i never understand ubisoft put all this new high speed gear, in ghost recon advance warfighter 2, and then instead of adding the same to r6v2, they put all this stupid gear, like riots helmets and things of the like, the operators in this next rainbow six should wear the same gear as seals, delta, army special ops, thats waht we want to see, when creating a character, we want more face layers, different hairstyles, facial hair and body types.
Also a gunsmith please, please do not release this game without a gunsmith, future soldier has it, rainbow six is the pioneer in tactical games, so i believe we all agreed it needs a gunsmith, in today warfare nobody deploy with one attachment on their weapon, minimum three, everytime i deploy to afganistan i had on my m4a1 a peq15, surefire flashlight, vertical foregrip, and eotech holo optic, or m68 red dot and magnifier 3x, also weapon camo, it is not new the developers already did it once, in future soldier and it was oustanding, so please consider all this for the next wonderful rainbow six.

And why not mods and prone, this is not going to take away that is a very realistic game, i would say is the most realistic game in the market so far. I love r6, and im also a combat vet and in combat a lot of times if u do not go prone you will die, trust me i have seen it, so why not increase the realism that the series already has with the prone stance, now, with whoever requested sideways sprint come on really can you sprint sideways in real life, no!!!!, ubisoft needs to incorporate things that are realistic, prone is realistic, period, trust me nobody and i say again nobody, sprint sideways in front of a machinegun in real life, noo!!!! They hit the deck, because a machine has fire superiority, and it will snap you in half. If sideway sprint is add it to this game the it will not be no different from cod, where you get hit 200000 times and survive, no!!! This is rainbow six.

ariolricard
01-05-2013, 05:42 PM
I agree with you that cod is crapy unrealistic game, but also have to say that l1 aim would be very proper for a game like rainbow six, where you constantly breach rooms full of bad guys, this is a cqb game, and i think that l1 aim would give you the speed needed in a room entry to use your optics and place well aim kill shots, so why not.

Just imagine for a minute rainbow six patriots , with the high tech gear and operators looks of mw3 and moh warfighter, but keeping the same realism and play style of the rainbow six series, but also with a gunsmith where you can add multiple attachments to your weapons and try it before the mission, where you could create your character in details something like in skirim character creation, and also a virtual firing range that!!!! Would be a master piece people!!!!

-Map editor/creator **Agreed, they will have some DLC's...***
-Mod support/SDK **Disagreed... People playing with MoDz should be banned from Multiplayer**
-lean and prone abilities **Agreed...**
-Hardcore mode without health regeneration, third person cover view, health regeneration, respawns, grenade indicators, aim assist, “Instinct Icons”, Room Scanners (without some type of countermeasure), or any other unrealistic crutches being forced on us. **Snake camera is always nice...**
-Footprints in snow/sand/mud or when walking over wet areas that eventually disappear **Agreed...**
-Post launch support**Laughing...***
-Increased variety in map architecture **Not sure what his means...**
-No dual primaries **Not sure what this means...**
-A bit of stealth (not like sneaking around but having that tactical feeling ie: using suppressors to take guys out, trying to not go loud and proud, remember in the novel the Support guy only used his MG once in the whole book! Remember that, suppressed weapons should be your babies!)**Novel is nice, Dead Or Alive is amazing...**
-Terrorist Hunt (but preferably without the "trigger" spawn of V/V2, spawn all enemies from the start) **Agreed...**

SINGLE PLAYER REQUESTS
-deep and rewarding morality system that encourages multiple playthroughs with multiple outcomes
-design that doesn't seem to make it that people will pick a certain path (in the target footage, let go of dead man switch immediately outside van and blow em all to hell, that should be a possibility, the more of these HOLY CRAP I CAN DO WHAT?!?! areas in the game the better it will be, this leads to what's stated above)Heavy Rain is good at that...

When it comes to Multiplayer that Is the hold up... I have to agree with a lot of on your Multiplayer request... Costume appearance... But you did say you wanted a grenade indicator...

I hope... I hope... My connection will just get a little better on the next generation council... My recon chatter is real slow... About 5 seconds slow... Sometimes I pick up a perfect connection on my ping...

I liked that in the other rainbow games, vegas' for instance, the down the sights aiming was click the Right Stick.
It's unusual and not like most FPS or COD clones (LT/L1) and that made it a little awkward and not super easy to kill people, but more precision was needed.
That also meant people spent just as much time trying to kill eachother firing from the hip, which made the gun battles very 50/50 and tense.

Other than that, I hope the game will retail most of what was mentioned by the original team, if it's watered down or like COD and typical games, can't say I'll be buying it..

I would kindly ask to bring back the "Terrorist hunt" feature back in the new Rainbow Six video game hopefully that is.

There's been several requests for Terrorist Hunt, and I put in my report every week along with all the requests that go up here.

I LOVE Terrorist Hunt!

A few more, though they may have been suggested already.

- in-game text chat (GRFS only lets you text chat in lobby, not in match)
- ability to adjust controls in game (GRFS only lets you do it form main menu)
- ability to adjust settings in game (graphics, sound, etc)
- dedicated servers
- game lobby settings. Let us change things like game mode in the lobby without quitting and creating a new one. It was common in past games for users to play coop or last man standing for a little while when waiting for the lobby to fill-up, you cant do this in GRFS, you are forced to sit there waiting.
- HUD options, let us remove things from the HUD if we want too. Some users like very minimal HUDs.
- Give us lots of customization options in all aspects of the game.

Thanks!

I would love to see the "Gunsmith" from Ghost Recon Future Soldier make it into R6: Patriots to be used in at least Single Player, Co-op, and Terrorist Hunt modes....if not all modes. That or some other more robust gun customization system. I'd say having such limited customization options has been my biggest gripe about the series. I'm not talking gun camos here, just parts and attachments.

I like how R6 Vegas 2 allowed me to customize my character, but would have been happier with a robust gun customization system instead. I did like that the game had unlocks. So that was nice.

Another thing that I felt would be nice is making unlocks depend on the use of the weapon the attachment gets unlocked for....like BF3 has it. (but no I don't want it to be battlefield or call of duty....I'm not really someone who likes playing online. I just like being able to unlock guns/parts through a progression. I much rather play offline single player or splitscreen/over LAN.) Fact is, if something like Gunsmith made it into the game, I'd be thrilled.

I hope that too. It wouldn´t be that difficult for Ubi, since they already have the basics of the gunsmith in GRFS, they just have to translate it to the R6 engine

I would love to see GunSmith in R6P and SCB
It has been the best gun setup systems I have seen in any game. It is probly the best thing Ubi has done.

I think a lot of the things requested from SCC, SCB could be applied to R6P

The normal things that didnt make it to GRFS would apply to R6P PC
Text Chat , Dedicated Servers, PING in numbers, LAN offline mode , 4 to EIGHT player coop , coop maps the SAME as SP solo maps , etc
Pretty much apply this whole thread for R6P - http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/757869-PC-COMMUNITY-Requests-and-Issues

For me . I have bought every single SC , R6 and GR game now on PC.
I will be waiting one month to two months after retail for SCB and R6P to see if they managed to flush two game series down the tube
by repeating the mistake from GRFS 1 PC and Farcry 3 PC and using peer2peer rubbish networking in SCB and R6P

Hi guys, we will send in your feedback about GunSmith.

- I remember seeing the gunsmith feature at my friends house, he was impressed with it. And the guns in RB6P being a lot more realistic, I think configuring a 3D representation of them would be a good move.
- Dedicated servers, or at least how they worked in the Vegas games are a must! (Farcry 3's online rarely worked, non working servers can break an otherwise great multiplayer)
- I think it'd be cool if RB6P added being able to go prone and crawl, I know it seems small, and in some games might seem unneeded. But it actually brings another level of gameplay to the table, I'm sure there won't be a jump button in this so prone seems tactical and a nice opposite.

- One other thing, configurable options!! if someone wants to put the time limit at off, or at 30mins, please let them! Far cry3 had options like "short" and "very long" which was bad. HUD on and off options are also important, maybe a smart HUD?

rainbow six has always been a little more fast paced but this guy has a solid point. I beg of you guys. Too many COD clones where dying doesn't matter, and people run around maps like chickens without a head. In the earlier days of ghost recon and rainbowsix what I loved is turning every corner, openng every door, was a risk. You didn't do it carelessly, you did it with the assumption someone was waiting and covering that area. You had actual firefights behind cover, and peaked in and out.

We don't need silly guns, inisible cloaks, or whatever is going into the games now-a-days. Just some real tactical combat that doesn't allow you to play the game on auto-pilot scanning for bodies and shooting.

one more thing. like others said lets keep the fps, an fps. Something simple like not allowing a player to see behind the object he's in cover adds suspense, and manipulates the gameplay in a good way. It's a lot easier to feel safe in cover if you can simply see them coming in a 3rd person view while they can not see you in their 1st person view.
