well for me it is urgent
i have had this prob with farcry for a while now and cant get it fixed, ive uninstalled--reinstalled, patched, unpatched, i have no probs on other games, just farcry! for a long time now ive been lucky and can find a server i can play on, but most of the time i cant-----i join a server and i cant ever see people move, then all of a sudden im in the water, then i can see everything just fine, then i cant switch weapons(all these things happen--just not in that order all the time). this is a typical day in my world o farcry, my trail and error process to find a server that i can play on. its not a ping issue because often i have below 50 ping. its not where i live-- my friends 1 mile away can play the same server just fine. i dont know how to fix this or even where to start--in fact i dont recal any one having this prob before. this isnt new to me, its been this way for a while now, maybe even the whole time----even though i still continue to play--please help if you can.

Looks like a network problem to me. Even if your pings look good, you may have periods of time where the pings are going to the roof. To discard an installation issue I would run the FarCry server on the same computer, connect to it to test if your installation is working.

DATA,
This problem is one that alot of people are having, so it aint just you. I have the same problem alot and on alot of different sertvers as well. I will have pings in the upper20's and lower 30's and it will still become unplayable. I had a post on another forum{ the technical help forum} but i never got a fix either. It is sometimes worse when alot of players come into a room. If you get any info please e-mail me at grayback760@yahoo.com

Not sure why this happens, but if it ANYWAYS happens to you every single time you play then there is likely more at fault than Farcry etc, because I can play most times with no problem. I will say though that I'm finding this does happen mostly on clan servers, and I'm wondering a little at this point if all the **** we are getting PB to do with whitelist, hash checks and then server SSM scripts are taking their toll. I find I have less problems when playing on a UBI server, but I'm going to experiment this week and see.

If it is always though you should check for spyware on your PC as that will effect your connection. Had one of my clan who hasn't played for a few weeks due to work commitments come on nad had ping and connection issues and we found 200 spywares slowing his net down. If you don't know what that is you can get a cleaner like ad-aware here http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware

Other than that try running some ping tests to the server you are having problems with. Get the IP from teh games list and then use something like ping plotter to run a 10 minute test seeing if you get lots of lost packets. Ping plotter can be found here http://www.pingplotter.com/download.html

ping -t [host]

Type the IP or Name of the FarCry server you're connecting. Run it for a while (1 or 2 minutes, there's no need to run it for much longer) and see if pings are stable. Of course disable P2P, VoIP or any program that may be connecting at will.

There was someone else with this problem and it turned out to be his modem (cable modem).

I have found that my meager system likes it when I regularly run Spybot, Adaware and defrag and reboot.

That aside things are not as good as when 1.3 first came out. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

i have run my own server before wioth no probs at all. i clean my system once a week with a a registry cleaner, ad-aware, and virus scan. its only to other servers so that cable modem theory has something to it. Suli had a suggestion for me as to what it could be--something to do with loosing packets. if you want to see what he is suggesting JOHNNY_REB_ then come to http://www.farcryarena.com/forums/
and look for the topic--he has not gotten back to me yet but he will--you may see it before i do as i wont check back untill later tonight.

Data, I ran into you on a server the other day. We've since added each other on xfire, but you have yet to msg me. If you want help, msg me when I'm online and I'll try. If you want to take a quick look into possible pocket loss try \cl_netstats 1.

I don't know where I posted this so I'll repeat it. There's a specific problem with Linksys routers and PB. Make sure you have the latest firmware (http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/entry.php).

Ok just updated the firmware on the router and I will keep you up to date. Thanks for the suggestion.

The update seems to have done something. I played 3 games in a row on the -2k- site with no probs. I dont want to speak too soon but it looks hopefully positive! Thanks for your input and keep ya head down in the maps LOL http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

oK,
as usual I spoke too soon. I started again later with the same type of kicks. I removed the router and thus far I havent had any kicks. I am out of ideas now, anymore recommendations are greatly appreciated. I hate software firewalls but and I like being able to have mopre than one computer connected to the internet if needed so what is one to do now?

I taking your router out of the picture solved your problem, then you have to tweak the DMZ settings until all the correct ports are working. If you think you've already done that and you have the latest firmware, then really there is nothing else to do.
