Jumping to a location on the map

Is there any quick way of jumping to a certain location on the map (or just viewing it in 3D mode)?

I figure that creating a custom mission is the only way, but I found the process a little confusing. If this is the case, could someone give me a quick tutorial on how to make a mission (just put the sub somewhere... no enemies or other stuff needed)? Or point me to a tutorial?
