Hello all!

I've got a new forum name, and it's been a while since I was on this site, but I had to join up again to post this good news.I used to post as funkyfresh5 (I think...it's been a looong time...I do remember flying a Beaufighter online once, and getting shot up by Xiolablu.Him and his wingman bounced me rtbing after moving mud. He hit me 92 times, and I still managed to rtb on one engine. lol. Good times. I was on teamspeak at the time talking to him as he shot me up, and we both couldn't believe I was still in the air) I've not been online for a few years after moving to Ireland, but I'm back online again. My generous gf bought me flying lessons for my birthday, and I finally managed to get up in the air today. It was in a Kaliber 150A, and I flew from a small airfield near Limerick, Ireland. Here are a few pictures. I'm the serious looking guy on the right hand side.

Just at the point of take off...

And rtb-ing

I was in the air for half a hour, and I had control of the plane for about half of that. (though I let the instructor handle the takeoff and landing http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) I've gotta say, I never realised how much work it is to fly a plane-my forearms were aching afterward!
So I'm still buzzing after a great morning, and I'm gonna go back to the game with a bit more knowledge. Give me a few more months to practice, and I hope to see you on a server near you soon.

Great to hear man!

I reckon the aching arms are due to feeling tense and excited through the whole thing, rather than actual hard work at the stick.

I remember my first (and last) lesson well, it's just such a unique blend of feelings to finally be up there.

Well gripping the stick like a madman combined with the fact he probably has not been taught to trim yet http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Congratulations BTW

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
Y'know, I'm a member of a few forums, and I lurk on a few more, but I've gotta say this is one of the most happy and friendly ones. Even raaaid still brings a wry smile to my face when i read his posts http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif
I was trying not to hold the stick too tight, but I guess the situation got to me a little bit. Controlling a light airplane at 1000ft or so is more nerve wracking than I thought it would be! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif And negative G's really make you wish you hadn't had breakfast that morning!
As for the trim, I didn't touch the trim at all during the time I was flying. The elevator trims were on a switch on the middle of the panel, and the other trims were on the top of the stick. I don't know if this is normal for other light aircraft, but I have changed my stick set up to reflect this, which has really helped to smooth out my flying during the game. I did learn to use the rudder more when turning as well, which was handy. In fact, one of the biggest surprises I has when up in the air was the amount of force needed to press on the rudder pedals when flying.
Anyway, thanks again for the replies, and hope to see y'all on a server soon.
