It depends where you are when you press escape. If you are within 30 Km of your base then it will have the "dock at (insert base name)" option. If you are still out at sea, then it will simply say "return to base". You get more reknown if you sail back close to your home port.

Hi OGW,
Didn't I just read on another forum you dont get points for returning all the way back to base?.
I've been doing that religously, even to the point of going into the dock, seems its been broken from stock so once the ammo's gone hit RTB and get on with the next mission.
Anyone confirm/deny this?.

I'll confirm this, as I posted it.

SH3 will not award you any renown for manually returning to base. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

You can test this yourself by editing your basic.cfg and removing the renown award for reaching & patrolling your grid but leave the award for returning to base.

It's been that way since SH3 1.0 but nobody has realised.
