Been through everything, cant find a suitable answer for why this game doesn't run flawless on my computer. Heres my specs:
P Duo 2 2.16gh
Nvidia 7950 GTX 512mb
2gb of ram
and a 200gb
I run every game maxed. BF2142 w/ full 64 man server and even crysis beta with everything on high. I purchased this game when it first came out for 50$, everyone told me it was my graphics card, bought a new computer got a better graphics card, still nothin. One of the most expensive frisbees i've ever purchased.

I feel your pain bud but, about the only thing you can do is quit buying games from UBI until they understand that they can't make shoddy games and get away with it.
This, of course is just WISHFUL thinking on my part as the hords will always buy the game sight unseen but if more people are aware of this... they will eventually notice.

well Vegas use to run great for me, then it started to run like **** and then it would lock up and then lock up my pc. so after that i decide to say FK UBI and there POS way of making game's .
i still have not bought a game made by UBI since this game. since i still don't think i have to set my pc just to make this game run fine. even though it ran ok for me. for a time, till it went south! and then there so call patch's which really haven't fix any thing right Yet.
i still like and play Raven shield which still run great on my system, and just think, i didn't have to make it run on my pc with special set up to my pc so it would just run it. and then make All of the other game's i have not work!!!
soz for the constant rant, but i feel better tho http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

How did Raven Shield run on your pc in March of 2003? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif
I had a 2.4c overclocked to 3.4ghz with 9800 pro when raven came out. Full settings with all eye candy did indeed stress it. Not like vegas but similar.
Now i can get like 500fps with all maxed settings max res. So...maybe 4 years from now people will be able to play this one. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I don't know what you are talking about!
When I bought RvS in August 2003 and patched it, it run flawlessly on my old crappy PC with an AMD 1.4 GHz, a Radeon 9600 and 512 MBs of RAM. All settings on HIGH, except for shadows. I didn't get very much higher than 30 fps, but it run flawlessly nevertheless.
Maybe it helped that it was a PC game (and not a crappy console PORT) in the first place?

Raven Shield was heavily affected by disk fragmentation.
i noticed that for a good period of time my laptop in Sept of '03, 2.8 GHz P4, 512MB/1GB(bought/upgraded later), Radeon 9600 w/1280 MB would play it fine but then for another period NOT play it well (constant pauses). and even with a fresh OS install, it would pause repeatedly. and it was affecting my friend the same way.
after a while we figured out it was because of the hard drive, once we defraged it, it ran fine... even at 1280 x 1024 max everything except smoke detail.

You obviously DO know what im talking about if you claim you never got much better than 30fps. If you avg near 30fps then there is no way during intense action that you would not get frame lag. Of course its possible you dont notice it, but it was there.
I said it "stressed" my pc, i never said it didnt run flawlessly. These are two different things. But just for the record, Raven Shield crashed to the desktop with General Protection Faults very frequently and still does. It also has its share of bugs and glitches just like Vegas. The difference is Raven Shield is a great game in the vein of the original R6 series while Vegas is just ________ (choose your favorite explitive)
@goobers
The hard drive did indeed make a difference in RVS. I noticed it very early on and upgraded to a raptor 10k drive back in 03 and have never used anything else for gaming except a raptor. Makes a world of difference for games that like to page alot of **** to disk. Helps in vegas as well as most games.

Now that I fully remember what was going on at that time, I remember that my average frame rate was between 50 and 60 fps for stock maps (in single player). Pretty impressive for the crappy specs of my old system! With all shadows OFF of course. Those 30 fps (and even sometimes down to 20 fps) were instead spotted in non-optimized custom maps made by other players. Some Athena Sword maps (like Back Alleys) would also bring my frame rate to a crawl.
As for the General Protection Faults, I have to admit that if I had allowed the automatic report feature to send the crash file to UBI each time it occurred, UBI mail servers themselves would have crashed a long time ago.
