yeah even with all the awfull music, SOT also had some elements of rock in it. Now people don't start comming in here saying you hate rock cause that's just not true. I doubt that there is a person who actually does that her, so lets just be reasonable. The game music isn't exactly fair.

What a surprise http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
I don't know if any of the Ubi folks heard of the thing called 'delayed'. Sure it might cost them some money, but it's nothing compare to what will they lose if they release unfinished game.
I know dozens of good games that have been delayed a couple of times, and never have they once lost a fan's hope throughout it.
If I see the last POP game not so great, I will never buy any of their games ever again.

The Soundtracks are awesome. Also,I'm worried about this game not be finised in time neither. It is better as Jan said to delay the game 3 months than have an uncomplete version of a game.......To be honest WW should have been delayed....Overall the article says 70% of the game is done.Ubi., for the love of Christ and for all the loyal POP fans out there don't betray them.I do have faith in the game though still.I jut don't want an inncomplete version of such an awesome gamehttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.It is too late though. The game I belive has been completed. It is going to the publishers so says Dark Princess from the Swordsmen. We could as well be doomed...........I still hope this game does well though.Even if it is incomplete it will still have good spots.I'm going to buy this game anyways.I have faith in Ubi. they can pull it off,but I am worried.
People doubted that WW would be good and it was in MY opinion so i have faith in Ubi.I won't care if this game gets low scores I will still get it.
IGN has said even with some of the stuuff unfinished it is still enjoyable. That is a good signhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.I have a feeling these next few weeks will test our Faith in the game deeply.....
*back to topic*
I liked WW's music though.Even if it was rock it suited the game.TTT'S music some of it sounds like they ue the drums too much though. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Oh and since this is a thread about the music, I got something to say...
What people still fail to see is that WW wasn't really about the rock music.
Name 2 songs (excluding 2 Godsmack pieces) that was clearly rock. I would luv to hear it.
Did you forget that background music that appears when you are installing the game? That is a perfect example of all but rock. I simply loved it. And start playing WW again and discover a lot of other pieces that barely have any head-banging feel to it as some are believed to think http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif The music in WW has a deep meaning to it (just like SoT music did for SoT), has a beat to remember and was simply done very well and is truly compelling. The only true rock I hear is in Dahaka chase, but what is the chase without the edgy music.
And to say that Godsmack owns the WW with his music is simply ignorance and stupidity. What about the great artists that have done all the work on all the music you really hear throughout the game, rather then Dahaka chase, and credit song (which was completely **** btw, they could put something else to be a credit song and represent the meaning of Warrior Within well).
And to tell you the truth, so far I don't like this T2T music one bit. I forgot it in one minute, plus it's not all that, and it hardly grabs you by the head and makes you want to listen to more (like music did in SoT and WW).
I nearly slept through each track, and now I really feel a need to throw a bucket of coffee down my throat.
It sounds like each song had a 10 minute limit to be made. I just really feel like that.
Oh well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Overall the article says 70% of the game is done.
Yog. The article says the BUILD IVAN PLAYED was 70% done. The GAME is 100% done. Perhaps because of when he visited, perhaps because they wanted to make sure he had a stable build to play with, perhaps because they didn't want to spoil things for when he got a complete review copy... for 1001 reasons (game development is quite complex), he was given a partial build to examine. It does not mean that the game itself is 70% done. It's 100% done. It wouldn't have been approved and given a release date if it wasn't.
I can see why the article might be misleading, but please don't for a minute think the game is incomplete. I assure you it is not.

Fire -
You do know the music for this game (aside from the Godsmack) is made by the exact same people as SoT and WW? If I read your post correctly, you did like their previous work - so hopefully you'll come to like T2T's as well since they've put just as much effort into it. Well... I hope you wind up liking it, at least!

Heh, I kind of missed on that part. So the same team is doing the music, this is the fact, yes? If so, I have one thing to say...errr, what happened http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif
I know it would be difficult to combine best from SoT and WW and make it truly good, but what came out is something different. The sound is just everywhere, and there are like 130 beats in there, each one having its own tune that just doesn’t go with the others. My ears are not pleased, as much as I hate to admit.
It's like listening to Babylonian Remix.
Hope now people understand what I mean.
And I truly wish that I might start to like the music and actually start feeling it before 30th time that I hear it while playing the game. God forbid I might turn it off, and then put my own music on the background while playing T2T. O_O
Weird…

I think some of you might've smoked one too many hookahs, lol. Sending out an unfinished game? That's the most ludicrous thing ever, Ubi would go bankrupt and there'd be a huge outcry. Don't worry! ^_^
The new tracks are pretty fun! I still prefer SoT, but they're actually somewhat similar.

I can't watch or hear anything from IGN. Whenever i try, all i get is a new window, with a small window inside that which says 'display', and then below that a 'controller'(that's what it says), which flicks on and off really quickly. And nothing besides that.
What's up with this? And are these tracks available to listen to anywhere else?

Less than One Month Left and the Game is still Un-finished Even though they haven't done a playble demo Job this Year and all efforts were going to make a Final BUG-Free Game.Their schedule was Tight Oh ya as said by them in an interview.Warrior Within a really a buggy game and there were some in-game Cinematics glitches too.I want POP T2T on Dec Though because still this unfinished game is Looking Excellent.Maybe they should Release the game at the End of Dec to make sure a bug free product.
MusicWise!I haven't heard the three tracks because I have a 56 K Modem and I can't Stream them But I have heard the Montage Video Music. And it was too good.I must say the Two Tracks the Very First Looping and the a new song of that video have deifintly Beaten the Goodness of POP SOT

Just listened to all three tracks. Thank you Zap for the update.
What I have to say is the music is so so. It's not awsome, it's not terrible either. It has more Arabic elements in it than Persian but that's expected because as it appears none of the people who are creating the soundtrack know much about Persian music or Persian instruments. And even if they knew it they probably can't play them anyways.
The music, although not Persian, is not too bad. Of course a few samples are not enough to juedge the soundtrack.
As for POP:WW's soundtrack, I agree with Fire Empress. So many people just simply didn't like the god smack bit that they applied the same dislike to the rest of the soundtrack of WW. If I remember correctly many of you actually liked the samples of soundtrack that was posted for POP:WW. I have the POP:WW mp3 rips on my HDD and when listening to most of them, they're actually very good tracks, specially the ones that are more full of suspense.
POP:SOT's soundtrack was alright, except it was Arabic and Indian and not Persian, yet people kept calling it Persian music which a fault on the shoulder of devs and music team for misleading gamers.

I completely agree with you on WW. The soundtrack is absolutely fabulous those who bash WW music because of 2 godsmack tracks out 100 others from the whole score, are having such narrow views on the music. Just listen to the garden tower music. It's my favorite piece which demonstrates a perfect blend between modern rock and middle eastern music. I also liked that piano song for the ambience on those bridges between towers.
Oh and listen to the music when you fight the crow master. It has guitars in it yes, but it also has some arabic vocals. When I played the game first time, I though: Dang, this had to be done by some arabian rock band or something...
Unlike SOT which didn't have ambient music but only a few action pieces, WW kicks in with music every step on the way through the game.

Oh no, I have no complaints about the music at all. On the contrary, I think it's very wonderful. It has the right blend of Middle-Eastern and modern Influence.
However, seeing thought Boss POV; He would have wanted a more Persian influence in the game rather than Arabic.

I like the way it is now. It reminds me of SoT and WW. And I really like the music from WW http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif.

I'll say it again, GIVE US AN MP3!
OH_DragonBoy
11-14-2005, 10:28 AM
My apologies to anyone who disagrees, but I really feel this insane need to rip Stuart Chatwood apart. I mean, ANY other tune but the end credits! Anything! But giving us the end credits is like telling us the end of the game. When I put down my PS2 controller two or three days after Xmas, and hear this song playing...it just won't have the same effect then as it does now.
Now, because this song is so magnificent, I'm going to listen to it OVER and OVER again, until I get bored of it, and by the time I hear it in game, I'm going to feel unfulfilled. *kills self*
These sound like the credits I was expecting, but missed, in the Warrior Within credits. As great a game that was, with a soundtrack to die for, I think the credits just didn't leave a heartwarming, empowering feeling like many of the credits I have sat and listened through.
"I still love you"...interesting name. But, listening to the words, I'm starting to think that what Angelina said might be wrong (PLEASE DON'T BAN ME!!!). I don't think Farah and the Prince will leave as lovers...The Prince may actually have to decline Farah's hand or something like that. "Desperate measures for desperate times", coupled with the name of the song...could it be speaking in the past tense?
Sorry if I'm ruining it for everyone, but I'm a high leve English student, and so will naturally infer and deduce everything I read and hear. But at least begin to consider my point.

Oh come on, you're not in any kind of "danger zone" here..http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
Actually I don't really think I meant to say the the game will necessarily end with them together judging by the theme song.
That doesn't mean that I don't hope that will be the case. I mean this is the end of a trilogy....and like LOTR I want this one to have a good ending which leaves the player satisfied so to speak.http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
So for now I'll be hoping for the Prince and Farah having a happy ending.http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
And I think I'll stay in this little illusion of mine until the actual game might prove that theory wrong...http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Call me DB or something like that...unless anyone knows how I can change my name. DragonBoy makes me sound like a little kid...don't ask why I picked it in the first place.
I hope Zapages gets the PoP Legacy finished soon; the music in the game is excelent, and yet it's impossible for me to get any sort of music downloaded from it! And, for some reason, I've always been able to turn to his website for that stuff.
Cataphract: desperate measures for desperate times: He's a prince of persia, she's a princess of india, so he's forced to marry her...in that respect, it doesn't really sounds like he loves her at all.
Angelina: A happy ending could mean multiple things, but I see where you're going. However, since a next gen PoP is going into work, and by letting the Prince turn away from Farah could leave it open to a sequal. I mean, let's be honest, a marriage will make the game stale, and I'd rather that the Prince be forced to leave Farah than have something horrible happen to her in the next game, because that's what's liable to happen if they do end up getting married.

Not necessary a happy or a sad ending, but it does leads open to your own interpertation of what may happen next http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Don't worry Oh_DragonBoy, December is coming so it means more free time for me to work on PoP Legacy. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Sorry for leaving everyone waiting with the new sections...
You can still download the soundtracks from the old PoP Legacy Site which will eventually be taken down when the new site is complete.
As for the ending song, its good yet still mystifing what happens to the Prince. I have feeling whats going to happen, but not to sure from what actually happens..

That song is great!!! I love it! Though that when I would play it, it would play 6 seconds of the song. Then it would buffer for about 2 minuets. (that annoys the **** out of me) Does someone have a direct link to "Cauf" Download it "Cauf".

*SPOILER BELOW*
I know… That there is no tomorrow…
I should have known… Of all the pain and sorrow…
I could only… See your mind…
Desperate measures… For desperate times.
I can’t stand the pain, but soon you’ll know… I still love you!
The fact still remains, only time will tell… I still love you!
But we… At the same time crying…
This place of solitude… That there’s no use in dying.
Things between us… you cannot hide…
A strangers hand placed… Upon your mind.
I can’t stand the pain, but soon you’ll know… I still love you!
The fact still remains, only time will tell… I still love you!
You can’t see gilt… But he’s there… Inside!
There’s still Voices… You know inside.
In time.
In time…..
I can’t stand the pain, but soon you’ll know… I still love you!
The fact still remains, only time will tell… I still love you!
I can’t stand the pain, but soon you’ll know… I still love you!
The fact still remains, only time will tell… I still love you!

You can download the 3 tacks available from IGN, just click on the following links and download all 3 files.
http://ps2movies.ign.com/ps2/video/article/665/665242/p...05_track1_flvlow.flv (http://ps2movies.ign.com/ps2/video/article/665/665242/pop3_110705_track1_flvlow.flv)

http://ps2movies.ign.com/ps2/video/article/665/665242/p...05_track3_flvlow.flv (http://ps2movies.ign.com/ps2/video/article/665/665242/pop3_110705_track3_flvlow.flv)
Because all the files are in FLV format and cannot be read by Windows Media Player of any other mp3/wma players, you will need to download this free FLV player (http://www.martijndevisser.com/download/flvplayer/flvplayer_setup.exe), and now you can listen to the tracks direct from your pc.

I guess I'm the only person who found that track to be nothing special. Definitly didn't have the gravity of Time only Knows of POP:SOT. It's a desparate attempt to mix western and eastern themes but it somehow fails in both, the melody goes half eastern and right when it's supposed to hit the climax of the eastern melody it falls off to western.....Not my taste. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

I'm glad someone else feels that way too. Nice way of summing it up, by refering to just as it gets to the climax it changes styles. It fails in both departments. Trying to please everyone to the point of not being well defined. Be bold!!!

I think this song is awesome. It's got a better vocal, and the ending suits the game perfectly. It's a nice mix of epic song, and a world music ending. I love the flute at the end. I hope this comes out on a soundtrack.

By your logic I would have liked pop:WW's ending track better than this track, but that's not necessarily true. As for the pop:sot song feeling "poppy" I didn't find any specific elements of pop(popular) music , it was rather soft rock if we were to classify it.
This track though is a failure in combining evenasence with eastern melodies.

I think that the song Not Falling from Mudvayne would've been kick-***...especially if they combined it with some of the great beats WW had. That would've been a winner.

Pop maybe as more "Persian" influence maybe? I like Time Only Knows better and I don't even remember WW's ending. I must have blocked it out http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif But getting back to what Boss was saying, the blend seems too "50/50" by playing it safe and trying to please everyone. *** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
Regarding the conversation about the end song lyrics, I have been re-reading them until they make some sort of sense to me.
The way I am interpreting them is that Farah and the Prince fall in love (again ... well, the Prince never stopped loving her, but I digress). At the end something happens which causes him to "permanently" turn into the Dark Prince to save himself and Farah. Up until this point he has grown to be a more mature, compassionate Prince, but he is desperate to save them so he gives in to the dark side.
So at the end he runs off as the Dark prince with Farah looking on.
So maybe POP4 will start with him as the Dark Prince and the game will all be about getting rid of his dark side.
Only flaw in my theory is that this is supposed to be the end of the Sands trilogy, so the Dark Prince would be a loose end.

Anyway, we aren't 100% sure that it will be a different story, with another Prince.
And your theory could still be right, because it's not necessary for the Ubi Team to make a sequel. It could just end this way.
Like I said... everything is possible...

The happy ending would be them getting married and the POP4 being about his son.
Because let's face it, if the Prince succeeds in getting his kingdom back in POP3 then he'll be King of Persia, not Prince of Persia.
Granted, that doesn't sound like marriage song. That is, unless, it is a forced marriage and she doesn't yet love him or something.
Anyways, enough spoiler talk from me.
Anxiously awaiting the game to be released!!

What about the great artists that have done all the work on all the music you really hear throughout the game,
<snip>
Oh well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
It's quite true that at times while playing WW something about the music felt strangely good to me. However I also have a feeling (I might be wrong) that all the fights were punctuated by this loud.. *thing*
Did you mention the music in the Garden Maiden part? Was it more like soothing or something? But soon enough, this *thing* was back again for the battle in the Water area, where you unlock one tower door. And ruins everything.
So, it's not the soundtrack but how I experienced the music as I played the game that it boils down to: 2 of Godsmack's tracks.. is that the number of battles in the game that featured such tracks or did these 2 come back more often.. and wash away everything else?

It reminds me a lot of the Resident Evil movie. The movie is alright, but I think I would have really enjoyed it if they didn't kick up the heavy metal when ever there is an action sequence. It just destroys all suspense and mood of the environment.
I think the thing that maybe makes people hate the Godsmack stuff is that some of the fights are pretty tought in WW (at least to me) and that heavy metal music gets you pumped up and spastic which I think leads to higher levels of anger and energy. In other words, it makes you madder much faster and makes you want to throw the controller through the window.
Not as bad as the ninja chicks one-liners though ... I had to turn off voices on the sound menu because I couldn't stand hearing them.
I do feel bad for all of Stuart Chatwood's work being overshadowed by Godsmack in WW.

It's rather clear that they don't intend for Farah and the Prince to hook up. Of course, they could do it, but would it make sense when Prince has settled for Kaileena already?
It would take major suspension of disbelief for us to accept that he'd have a change of heart within a couple of days of Kaileena dying. If there are Farah fans out there, let it be precisely because we like and respect her so much that we accept that Prince just cannot be with her after calling Kaileena 'My Love'.
It would take some convenient artifact like the Mask of the Undead in WW to get Farah and Prince together.. probably something that would actually make things turn out to be that Kaileena's spirit lives on within Farah or some stunt like that..

It's only clear that the prince will end up with nobody, as that is what always happens to the hero. I guess it is the fear of killing off sequels.
As for Farah, he did wear her amulet through POP:WW. That shows that he still has a strong emotional bond with her.
Still, you are correct in that he has spent more time with Kaileena. I mean, they built a boat together and rode across the ocean. That's definately more time than a few days in a castle!
I'm sure the ending song (to get back on topic) of POP:TTT has something to do with the love triangle.

I never understood the Godsmack hate. I mean the only songs Godsmack did were Straight Out Of Line which was used in the credits, and a modified version of I Stand Alone -one for the start screen demo and a lyricless version for the Dahaka chase which IMO suited it.
The other three rock tracks that play when your fighting the enemies, most notably in the Clockwork Tower were done by someone else. Anyway I really love that track that plays in the present at the start of the game on the Island of Time.
Since this is the thread about music, I have a question regarding PoP3. In one of the E3 videos (the GT Interview to be exact at the top of the page here: http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=1666) there is this music playing in the background, you really here it kick off torwards the end. Is this one of the tracks confirmed to appear in the game?

It didn't bother me, but then again I played WW before SoT. After recently finishing SoT I can see where some people wouldn't like WW's general direction. Granted, Prince of Persia has always be a violent game (SoT was probably the least violent of the entire series), but I think most lovers of SoT wanted another fairytale adventure. Not many fairytale's have thrashing guitars!
The way I see it, the "more extreme" WW sold better than SoT, and thanks to that we will have T2T! T2T with slightly softer music.

I never understood the Godsmack hate. I mean the only songs Godsmack did were Straight Out Of Line which was used in the credits, and a modified version of I Stand Alone -one for the start screen demo and a lyricless version for the Dahaka chase which IMO suited it.

The composer broke the first rule of writing music; "When you're about to hit the climax of the eastern melody, don't fall off to western". What an amateur...

It's not clear to me whether you're agreeing with me or taking a shot at me. Either way it helps if you actually contribute something by elaborating your points.
It's one thing to be creative, it's another thing to simply mix stuff up for the heck of it to see what comes off.

And I thought I was the only one! I really don't see much to rave over in this song... it's okay, but to me it feels more pop-ish than Time Only Knows (which I loved). Aside from a couple Eastern accidentals and riffs, there just doesn't seem to be much to it.
Also... I REALLY hope this doesn't spoil the game's plot... why on earth was the ending song released now? I'm going to cross my fingers and hope the lyrics are a red herring and that the Prince and Farah will live happily ever after. XD

Oh my God... Oh my God... Oh my God... Oh my God... The singer is half Egyptian?! I'm Egyptian! I want to sing the new song! I'm a soprano, come on Ubi!
Oh and... they need more metal in the new one. I liked the mixes in WW more. But I guess I'm biased...

OMG it's Kat! Wow, I haven't seen you in ages! I missed you and your posts, we always seem to agree on a lot of stuff, hehehe.
As for me, I can't bring myself to listen to the credits. Ubi always does that though, like how you could watch the credits before you even started the game. I really hope the Prince and Farah get together though, I think I'll cry if they don't. ;_;

I will weep a lot if Prince and Farah would being separated this time around.Enough Separation. We want Marriage now

You'll be weeping a lot then, I assume.
Marriage is doubtful in my oppinion. Besides, I don't want them to get married. In a videogame, it would be corny. Besides, marraige would tie the Prince down. It would be like putting him in a cage. A beautiful cage, yes, but a cage no less.

Well I still vote for the marriage...http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
I mean would it be so bad if the Prince did settle down now? Since this is apparently the last game connected to the "Sands trilogy" anyway?
Of course we don't know, but I guess it's likely that if we get any future POP games there will be an entirely different prince.....obviously this is just me speculating, I mean who knows.
I don't know, after the Prince has been hunted and emotionally tormented for so many years, I guess I just want him to settle down and find some peace at last....since this is suppose to be the ending.

Same here, the ending in SoT was happy or sad since he saved everyone's lifes and a kingdom but didn't get the girl...and we all know how much thats sucks http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif
In WW it looked like it would end happy but then we see Babylon in flames...again major bummer for the Prince http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif
So I would really love to see the Prince and Farah married and bringing Babylon to a more peaceful age or sometihng like that http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
