I think those are composite screens. Take a look at some of the other ones at Gamespot and you will see F-15s and A-10s in them that just don't look right.

I think the ones you speak of are Artistic Renders, or Concepsion Art.

That's not a screenshot, it's an edited photo...
The same applies to the pictures posted by D.i.C.e, they're obviously edited photos.

I have to agree those wide screen scenic shots look like visualization...

If GRIN is planning to incorporate the red and green outlines of friendly's & foe's, then they should at least set up and offical vote to see who wants the red and green outlines in the PC version of the game..

I have already stated my feelings on the Christmas trees in the game. The outlines need to go, for all platforms.

They can put them in if they'd like as long as i have the option to turn them off.

I guess I'm voting for every single PC player in the world when I say NO to outlines!

Okay, I may be exageratting a little bit (just a little bit).

The Ouotlines are no Different than your ret turning red when you place it on a friendly and green for foes, its just a differant way of doing it.

I thought that was the way Furture Warrior was supposed to work, well according to Popular Mechanics at least.

Btw what's the gun? An F2000?

The question is, how will goggles be able to tell the difference between friendly (green?) enemy (red?) or civilian? Enemy and civilians will not be carrying IFF type transponders on them to help differentiate between the two. It was a stretch in GR with the changing rets, but they were less intrusive than those big outlines. In GR, you could change the rets to be one color for everyone via notepad. Those seem to be hard coded in.

Yup, the difference is that, in GR, you could only know who was friendly. You could to toggle IFF ON and OFF, plus having two options for ON ('Reticule' or 'Names'), but there was no IFF telling you who the enemy was - you either saw them, or you didn't.

But anyway, I don't remember seeing these outlines on any of the PC exclusive screenshots, and I personally doubt they will be included on the PC version.

We always played w/no TI, no respawns and no IFF on. Visual is always best. I can't tell you how many times I've been tk'd by our new guys who say that my name didn't come up. It was rare to be tk'd by the guys on the squad who didn't use IFF.

Well the way the Popular Mechanics (or Science, I forget) article put it, was that UAVs flying overhead or vehicles with their own set of sensors (optical, infrared, audio...) would detect the presence of the enemy, and relay that information over the battlenet, sorta like on that FBCB2 system I mentioned here:

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/2791043913/m/8911090433

I really don't understand how the outlines would appear around people or vehicles, frankly I feel it's more realistic if it was just a dot that would appear over an enemy uncovered by other units.

I really hope they keep the red and green outlines out of all the games. If a stray cat ran across your screen are they gonna have it outlined in pink?

since UBI likes to try and change Ghost Recon into more publicly accepted gameplay (dumbing down) i feel that they should incorporate unicorns into the game for the fantasy game fans. but so we won't confuse them with regular horses i feel they should have a rainbow outline.

That's a spectator view if I'm not mistaken. We still have a long way to go before we know if some of these new (n00b) features will make it into the PC version.

I can almost gurentee that the Red and Green outlines will be in the PC version.

But I would also almost guarentee that they will be serversided options just like AFF was in GR.

Remeber it was stated early on that there would be almost 340 server side options in the PC version.

340? Excellent. That should provide plenty of debate matierial once GRAW is out.
