I have noticed that at low altitudes the planes labels/name dissapears! especially over forests.
Is this a problem with my graphics or is there a way to force the plane labels to always to be drawn.

This issue (which includes the intermittent losss of ground icons) is usually associated with running the game in DirectX. Using OpenGL usually solves this problem.

Same thing happens on open gl, i think its when the name tags merge with the ground setting. Happens a lot if a plane is going down. Once the plane gains attitude you should see it again fine.
Almost like the days of cfs2 when folks were flying below ground etc etc.
May you not beomce a dirt torpedo.

Thanks the labels do display properly in OpenGL, for some reason in DirectX i loose labels once planes/tanks are within 500m? of ground level.
Problem is that OpenGL is too jerky to play with as it load s textures like when a plane appears or gun fire animation starts, does look much better though.
Guess i play with DirectX options.

I got OpenGL working fast enough to play now, i changed to use S3TC and used bilinear rather than trilinear and also don't use the "perfect" land and top shading settings.
I still don't have any labels on tanks etc ground objects?
Strange why D3D labels don't work close to ground though.

I thought this was a new feature for FB. Planes in camouflage colours would be difficult to see under these conditions. It prevents the labels being used to enhance visibility as well as aid identification. A bit like the way the labels fade in cloud.

For eg. in Direct3D my countries planes on airfield have no labels on runway but they do have labels in the same case with OpenGL.
I guess its some Direct3D problem. Doesn't matter to me anymore as i use OpenGL now which looks better and seems faster anyhow now that i found that S3TC settings http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
