After playing through a few times myself, I am gonna have to agree. In the 360 version you actually witness her lack of terrorist mentally and the player becomes sympathetic to her. Her reaction when the cruise ship blows is so obvivious and her pleas to Emile to not kill so many people are very documented on the 360 version. But the connection to Sam and her on the xbox1 version I simply don't see it either. That may have been a little mess up by Montreal, not sure. But it really does not matter, she's dead.

I guess I was expecting more from Ubisoft after playing the last 3 SC games. They all have flaws, of course, but at least the story was, if not always plausible, at least coherent. Double Agent doesn't tell the story very well. I though maybe there were some cinematics that were hacked off the Gamecube version for space considerations (even with 2 discs there is less storage capacity than a single-layer DVD) but it sounds like the Xbox and PS2 versions are identical.
And there are some highly implausible parts to this game as well. The ending that results in LA and Nashville being nuked, for instance. It's obvious in the JBA2 level that the NSA (or Williams, at any rate) knows about the intended targets of the Red Mercury devices. Since they are able to track Sam's every move, they would know if Sam failed to disarm the bombs. Since Williams knows about the Nashville bomb, doesn't that make him culpable in the assassination of the President of the United States?
And Lambert posing as an arms dealer to get Sam his gear? Please! Don't they have other field agents in Third Echelon? It would be much safer for all involved to send somebody in with some field experience who knows nothing about the actual mission. It's a classic example of a "deus ex machina". They couldn't find a plausible way for the JBA to kidnap Lambert, so they had to create a very implausible scenario to advance the plot to that point. I'm no literary critic, but the use of such a device is usually frowned upon, as it suggests a poorly conceived story.
Oh well, it's a good game, but I really think this could have been a GREAT game. I have nothing against Ubisoft Shanghai or Montreal, but maybe Ubisoft should try for a little more interoffice cooperation in the future rather than what appears to be a case of "My Splinter Cell is better than your Splinter Cell".

Maybe because at the beginning it seemed like Sam and Lambert were on their own with the JBA mission that Lambert took that role. Also, on the regular Xbox there's that little thing at the end when Sam and Enrica talk, and Enrica ends "when it's all done what are WE going to do?", and of course all the (silly) emails about Enrica and Sam...that could lead one to assume there's something going on. I prefer leaving the mushy stuff out so that we can get with the stealth and death. The story still could've been better, but it's all good.

It is being asked that anything related to ConViction be kept to the official ConViction thread.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
