GamesMasterTA

The Map Council (in their infinate wisdom http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif), has agreed, the Return of the trial nights

This time round they are to be held over the weekends, hosted by members of the council, the maps being played on the night are the choice of the council and are maps that have been previously submitted to us and are under consideration for hosting on Far Cry USW servers and review.

The purpose of the events are to have a good playtest of all the maps that have been submitted, in the ongoing search for the best player created maps.

We will take our own notes during the games and will make our final desicission mid-week after the events. The council & LP will however have the last 'say' or final choice in which maps are to be hosted on the Ubisoft Far Cry USW servers.

Feel free to post your own reviews from the hosted nights right here too!

Please do not ask council members to 'check out your map', if you want to have your map submitted then please use the submission thread (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1191051763/m/9471059673)

It is on a first come first served basis.
Please run a optimatch search at date and times given and joing the appropriate host.
Dates & times are to be supplied shortly

GM - I can't make Friday nights, but good luck with your room. Are you going to be free Saturday morning (afternoon your time)? I'll go ahead and host a room for then.

Okay...My server will be up on Saturday Night...

I'll open it dedicated from 5:00-6:00p.m. est to DL ahead for anyone...

Then, I'll have it set to go for around 6:30p.m. for 10 people...I can hold more, but this amount of players will optimize the playspeed...so, make sure your connections are clean...hehehe

Ahh...I missed the trial night http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

Is there any way i could download those maps, without downloading them from the computer (really bad at computers)

mambonuts

Don't feel so bad Quaagmire...

The night turned out to be a washup anyway...

I had my ded. server up for 1.5hrs, and not much activity...then sat in the room, for about 20mins...no players, so I got a game invite, and I left...

I'm not going to host rooms anymore for anything but recreation with some of my friends, and people who get invited...and, I don't want people sending me invites so they can just try and get me to DL their maps...

I also don't like being hunted down into the games I'm playing with people, by members asking me if I've had a chance to look at their map yet...

All the members of the 'Council' are good people, and we're pretty easy going...but, we have lives too. There is a thread to submit maps, and times to be DL by any of us...and when the time or situation permits...we'll let you know if we can swing grabbing a few of your new maps...

This 'map playing event' was an opportunity to try and get the rest of the community involved in the whole map review process, a way to help us get a better feel for team play...

This shows me how much interest there is...

**** mambo, you sound a lot more sad than I do. I'm interested...for the most part http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

But, that's the price of fame http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Anway, the night probably was **** because everyone was on Thanksgiving break. Maybe you guys should wait till the holidays are over before another attempt at a trial night.

But umm..whenever you feel like you, i dont know, are bored out of your mind, you could open up a server with a couple of those maps. Just a small suggestion http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm not sad...that's for sure...

We just tried to make a new event to get people interested again, because there were many people really disappointed when we stopped it before...

When you'd like...send me a PM with enough notice, for time etc...and I'd be glad to give you some of those maps...

I did the same thing, I hosted a room with a couple of maps in rotation, sat around for about half an hour (I don't have the patience that Mambonuts has), and nobody joined.

I'm starting to wonder if maybe this game has already run its course with everyone but the hardcore fans out there.

mambonuts
11-27-2005, 01:03 PM
That's a drag...this game has a lot of potential, still...

I guess the fact that 'Battlefield2' was released a short while ago...and, the Xbox 360 has shaved away some of the community here, things have been pretty lean lately...

Also, the time of year I guess...with the season creeping up on many people...there's other plans on the menu... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Sorry I couldn't stick around the other night, my brother decided to turn up and wanted me to go out so I couldn't say no.

Mambonuts, I caught up with your son before you got on, and he grabbed my map from me, he seemed to like it so hopefully you will share the same opinion http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'll give this another go around at the end of this week...considering things don't change for some reason or another...

I understand the US had Thanksgiving...and, they are a big part of the population here...so, keep reading this thread through the week...and I'll put a definite time on for Friday night...

Sadly I can't make this Friday as I'm out having a Christmas meal with my karate club. I'll try my darndest to make the next one, who knows, my next cartographic masterpiece might be ready to be unveiled then http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Slightly off-topic though, I'd just like to say how much more enjoyable games are if there's plenty of players. I was lucky enough to have a few bloody great lag-free 16-player games last night, which were a real hoot. Did you know you can fit 6 players into a Light Recon Vehicle? We played a 13vs3 Predator game. It was just so cool, there were 6 of us packed into a LRV, a couple of guys on ATVs (plus a couple of guys hanging back or sniping, the cowards!), and we charged the Predator base in a convoy. Great stuff, it was almost like a massively-multiplayer online version of WH40K. Imagine the fun we could have playing that size game on some of our custom-made maps! Come on guys, let's make it happen.

mambonuts

I know many of us have had great nights, playing with around 12 players...It just makes everything more frantic...

That's why if we don't try to get in these nights every so often, we'll be missing a lot of fun...

We had a pretty good session going for awhile; I had 5 maps in rotation, by the time we got to the last map, there were about 7-8 of us in there.

PS: Everyone loved that French map, Enefable(?), I'd say that was by far the favorite of the night.

I haven't been on the trial nights post in a couple of days, so i missed all the talk about the upcoming trial night. The more I read through all the talk about "make sure to join up" and "Don't forget, this friday at 9", the stupider i felt.

Hey guys, I'd really like to join in a trial night sometime, unfortunately I've been doing stuff on the last two friday nights. Any chance of the occasional weekend online meet?

Mambo, don't despair about people not playing FCI online, I have a feeling that this game is something of a "sleeper hit" that will stick around for quite a while, since it offers stuff that hardly any other games do (next gen included). I think you'd be surprised how much of a hard core of players will stick around. I mean, the XIII online community was still going strong at the height of Halo 2's popularity, so stranger things have happened! (Hell, there are guys out there still playing Doom 1 and Quake 1 online...)

True - and there is still a dedicated core following of the Timesplitters game, and that one's been out there since March. Games like this one, where you can actually create your own custom maps, guarantees that it never gets old. Heck, even when I get my 360, although I'll probably start playing a few new games, I'm still going to keep playing this game. I'll just have to figure out some way to hook both the 360 and the Xbox up at the same time.

I missed out completely, because I was having connection probs...

While i haven't figured out how to have both online at the same time (pretty sure you can't under the same GT)...i have arranged it so I can be playing my 360 in SP while I host FCI dedi server for maps on the XBox...(just brought a small TV down next to my projector for it)...works well!

We're losin it guys. I found this post at the bottom of the page. I still care about trial nights, and I think it's important to not let them die out with the game. Our community is small, but our minds are BIG! We can do this!

Whether or not I'm actually there, it helps me sleep at night to know the community of the game I know and love is being organized and playing together. It was horrible when the Unreal Championship 2 community dissapeared due to bugs. The names on that forum dissapeared to 15 or 20. You might not always find people on your friends list around in this game, but the community of players is still there...

I played with a friend the other day on a new map we were checking out, and before you know it...there were 12 other people in the game, which turned into a fun brawl on different maps for about 2hrs...hehehe

Quaagmire
12-21-2005, 01:56 PM
