Have you deleted the game folder manualy after deinstalling the game?
Sounds like you're attempting to apply the incorrect patch for your type of installed game. Remember there are four types of possible installs:
EMEA DVD
EMEA Download
US DVD
US Download
Make sure you've downloaded and are attempting to install the correct type of patch for your specific install.
