View Full Version : Difficulty inadvertently rises in savegame?

So I was merrily playing through the missions on Normal Difficulty when I make it up to the level with the dam. I play the mission through until it checkpoint saves right before you have to go plant the EMP. I called it a night and shut down.

When I loaded the most recent checkpoint savefile the following day all the enemies have ridiculously intuitive senses and I can't get within 100m of one without getting spotted and shots taken at me. And, yes, I'm in the crouched position and not running.

The difficulty still says its on Normal but it certainly is playing more difficult than the day before. I tried restarting the mission from the very first savegame (the one that loads into the briefing) and same problem. I was getting shot at by the gate guards before I could even see them, through bushes no less!

I did load up Ageia Island to give it a whirl after giving up on the Campaign and I noticed the intuitiveness of the enemy soldiers was back to where I remembered it, which makes me believe it's got something to do with the savegame files.

Hell, what are you complaining about... I would gladly take your savegames over mine, at least, they fire at you, the ones I have to deal with wouldn't even react after I took a few buggers out of their nostrils http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Oh yeah... wierd bug indeed! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I wouldn't be complaining if it hadn't turned the enemy soldiers into cybernetic mutants that can see through solid objects! Quite literally, while standing on the opposite side of a 10ft wall one of them yelled "Americano!" while about 20m further beyond the wall.

Really, my save games are pretty much unplayable due to the difficulty.

Well, I was finally able to get through the dam mission after about 20 attempts but I'm totally stuck with the border crossing mission.

My team of 4 is reduced to 2 or 3 immediately after being dropped in. Within 2-3 seconds the unlucky fella standing on the sidewalk is mowed down by the withering fire from the stationary 50 cal, and usually the one within line of sight through the two buses is picked off a few seconds after.

Is this supposed to happen? What are others experiences on the border mission?

EDIT: Ok, so I finished mission 10 solo since my poor teammates were going to be more of a liability than a help. However, I went back to the last checkpoint save of mission 8 and redid mission 9 to get rid of the cybernetic mutant soldiers that were making mission 10 impossible.

I played the last mission a few times since it is the best one, you get to fight with the tangos instead of just picking their buggers to death.

I think that out of the 10 times I played it, only 2 (perhpas just 1) I was able to save my teammates, the other times, I loose 1 and possibly 2. As soon as I hit the ground first, I would crouch the give my teammates the command to recon and stop as fast as possible but since they were using their peanut brains, they would go to the scripted points and die a horrible death.
